First of all make sure the audio out jacks on your freeview are securely plugged in and routed to the proper input jacks on your surround sound unit and the correct input source is selected on the sourround sound unit. If all is well with this you can test if the surrond sound unit is functioning properly buy turning the volume up half way on the unit. Unplug the right and left cables from your freview and leave the other ends plugged into your surround sound(with the volume up half way). Now touch the tip of the right side cable with your finger tip. the right speakers should hum. And then touch the tip of the left plug and the left speakers should hum. If you get no hum you either have the wrong input source selected on the surround device or the is a problem with it. If the surround sound device is functioning with another device properly, disconnect the cable from that device( ex.dvd, cable, vcr, ect,...) and connect those cables to the output on your freeview. If you still do not get sound, make sure the volume is not muted somehow on your freeview. As you have now connected a verified audio input to your surround sound directly to your freeview and made sure the freeview was not in anyway muted there is a problem with the audio out on your freeview. I hope this helped you solve your problem but if nor feel free to contact me before rating this solution and I will walk you through everything and make sure we get this problem isolated or ultimately fixed.

How should I connect my denon avr 1906 to my 32" ES6300 Series 6 SMART 3D Full HD LED TV Model numberUE32ES6300U in order to get dolby digital from the tv's tuner please?

Use an optical cable.

Be aware though. Your TV has a DVB-T tuner. It picks up the Freeview standard definition (SD) channels, but not the Freeview HD ones. Dolby Digital sound only comes from the Freeview HD channels.

Your TV will pass Dolby Digital from any source connected to a HDMI port to the Optical Out. It will also pass DTS. But the internal Freeview DVB-T tuner doesn't generate Dolby Digital, just stereo and stereo with Dolby Surround encoding where you use ProLogic II for decoding.

My Phillips HTS3520 plays DVDs fine and the sound is excellent. However, it is not playing the TV channels thorugh the theatre system.

Without more data, I can only make some general suggestions.

First: Check your cables. If you are using a converter box, there must be a set of audio and video cables going from the cable box to the Home Theatre unit. These will be a yellow/white/red set of cables. Second: If these cables are plugged into "AUX1" or "AUX2" make sure this is what reads on the front of the HT unit. You already have cables going from the HT to the TV because your DVD works.

Although this sounds obvious (please forgive me-I am not underestimating you) IF your TV receiver is 6 years old or more, and you are NOT using cable or satellite, there will be nothing for your set to pick up since the conversion from analog to digital.

By the looks of it, the only output you can use from the tv will be using the 2.5mm jack plug headphone socket, get a cable to convert this into twin phone (red/white) for stereo sound to your amplifier. (they are very cheap £2 or so) The Home theatre system should be able to give you a psuedo surround but you wont get full surround.

I just bought a samsung home theater in a box system, model Ht-D5500. And i also have a hd cable box. i was wondering how can i connect my cable box up so that i get audio from the speakers instead of the...

There are two ways of connecting to get cable TV audio from your Home Theater System.
1) If your HD cable box has a digital audio out ( either optical or coaxial ) you can connect this to the Samsung Home Theater Systems digital input. While watching a TV channel scroll through the Samsungs input ( source ) selector till you hear the sound. Remember to mute the TV sound while you are doing this. Most probably it will be the CBL/SAT input or Video AUX.
2) If your HD box does not have digital audio out you can connect the Red & White audio out of the same to your Samsungs Aux or TV or Video audio inputs . Ignore the yellow socket and connect only the Red and White audio inputs. For getting Video through the TV connect the HD box to TV via HDMI cable or connect the Yellow video out to the TV's Yellow video in. I am sure it is already connected .

To listen to Tv program sound through your home theater system you will have to connect a pair of RCA to RCA cables (Red and White pair ) from the audio out socket of the TV ( some times three sockets Yellow/Red/White labeled Monitor out. Ignore the yellow as it is video out ) to the Aux or CBL/Sat input of the LG system. Then to listen to the sound through your LG HT system switch the Input selector of the LG to Aux or CBL/SAT. Will work for sure.

Where do I plug my headphones into a Sony DAV-FX900KW home theatre system? I'm playing X-Box 360 (on TV/VCR1) but can't get any sound off my Philips wireless headphones. Appreciate any help

There is a headphone jack on the Sony's front panel, on the right near the bottom edge. Connect the sender part of your wireless headphones to that jack. You may need some form of adapter depending on the sender's input connectors. If the wireless headphone system is working properly, this will give you sound.

Receiver will transmit t.v. sound but no picture

Maybe the video portion of your receiver was fried by the lightning. The good news is, you don't need it!
I run all my video sources (sattelite, xbox and dvd player) to my TV with hdmi cables, and a single toslink(optical) from the televison to my 5.1 home theatre receiver. it sounds great and I only use a single input of the receiver for all my video.

If your setup does not have toslink themn use coaxial digital. it is also one wire and probably is indistinguishable in sound quality.

for future, run the power for all your electronics through a UPS or fancy surge supressor to protect them from bad power (and lightning)

Passing HDMI signal fro cable box to yamaha RXV463 to Samsung HDT

It sounds like a resolution problem to me. Try adjusting the video settings on your set. It may need you to switch modes as some TV's do this (Why I dont know). I have found that even sometimes its the cable service to blame.
