Question about Intel Motherboard

1 Answer

Configuring Nvidia card, etc

Can somebody please explain to me what OpenGL, Direct3D, DirectX8, DirectX9, Antialiasing, Anisotropic filtering are and how they relate to FS2002? Or maybe there is a good site that explains these terms? Try to configure my new Ti4200 and these terms crop up in the config settings. Also looking for advice which Nvidia driver is the best to use - my PC: Intel P4-2400, 512MB, Intel D845GRGL board, MSI GF4 Ti4200, Win2000. Initially installed my card with the MSI drivers (30.xx), but today I went to 44.03, using installation default settings. (Image Setting = Quality, Antialiasing = application controlled, Anisotropic filtering = off) Only did a short flight, scenery looks better, but framerate seems to be slower than with the MSI driver. Thanks, Oscar i tried the lowest graphics but i am no satissfied with it!!

DirectX is a microsoft's standard for controling video cards. you can read all of video cards and its affiliations on this link.

http://www.playtool.com/pages/selectvid/select.html

in my opinion, ill choose PCI-express video cards (it should be compatible between the motherboard and the video card) because its not that expensive and it can load a high quality video graphics compare with AGP video cards and by the way AGP cards are expensive rather than PCI-express. hope that helps!

Want to make sure your drivers are in place and no errors have occurred? Simply click start right click on my computer select properties then select device manager scroll to Display Adapters and click on the small "+" you should see the model of your PCI Express graphic card there. If there is a problem with it, a yellow exclamation mark should appear besides it. If you don't see it everything is OK and your card is working properly.

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it or you might have a dirty graphics card remove the graphics card and clean the socket

All your drivers will be in the following locations.

Motherboard drivers:
http://www.mercury-pc.com/downloads.php
select your motherboard by the type of processor and download the drivers

nVidia drivers latest:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

NOTE: before installing any new drivers, uninstall all the old drivers.
remove all your motherboard drivers and graphics drivers. then first install the motherboard drivers and finally install the graphics drivers.

all will be around 100 to150 MB make sure you use a download accelerator and have enough bandwidth.

Graphics card

You can try running the game in another mode. I had a similar problem playing WOW but I fixed it.
Here's how.
1)Create a desktop shortcut of the exe file of the game.
2)Right click on the shortcut and click properties
3)In the target field you will see something like "C:/Program files/teamfortress/tfrotress.exe"
All you need to is click it and move the cursor to the end give a space and type -opengl. It would look something like this
C:/Program files/teamfortress/tfrotress.exe" -opengl
If it doesn't work try
C:/Program files/teamfortress/tfrotress.exe" -direct3D
One of these modes gotta work. My money would be on opengl. If it still doesn't run then try updating your graphics card driver and try again.

Hope this helps,
Sai.
