First of all, don't type emails while driving, it's not safe and you should always keep your eyes on the road!
Second of all, emails shouldn't just "disappear" when you hit a bump in the road while you're typing. You probably hit some sort of key combination during the shock which deleted your email.
You could try and login to your mailbox directly as outlook express is just 3rd party software to help you get your emails. For instance if you're using Windows Live Mail or Gmail you could just go to the website, login and check if your email is still there. However, this will depend on your Outlook Express settings. Some of these programs will delete the email from your mailserver in order to keep it from getting full.

Hi, Possibly this could be the reason. Your iPhone might have been setup with IMAP connection, and Outlook with POP3. In this case, once email is downloaded by Outlook, it will be deleted from the att.net server. So, go to Advanced in your Outlook account configuration and Select the option leave a copy on the server.
Then you will have to delete all the emails individually from your phone too.
