Saeco Easy Coffee Maker

My grinder is making a funny sound and just runs continuously. No beans are ground then a red light goes on. Is the grinder broken. DO you have a service center in the Philippines?

My Saeco Easy has started really struggling when packing the grounds (should be "thwok, thwok, thwok"). More and more often, I'm getting hums instead of a resounding "thwoks", and I end up with a cup full of slightly tan water and a sludge of water and grounds instead of a tightly packed puck. Something is preventing the smooth operation of the packing mechanism, but I'm hesistant to start pulling things apart. I've removed and thoroughly cleaned the plastic grounds housing, but that's not doing the trick.

I think I solved this (I had the same problem). Upon removing the top, I found that the solenoid that moves the trap-door for the grounds was loose, and the mount where it attaches to the plastic frame was broken. Basically, the little plastic fin that should hold the lower flange of the solenoid was sheared off. That left the solenoid free to move, and made the action necessary to move the dispenser trap door impossible. Instead of doing it's thwok, thwok thwok, it would just hum.
It looked like there was no easy way to replace that part of the plastic mount, so I have epoxied and zip-tied the solenoid into place. It seemed to fix the problem.

Hi Tony,

I have the exact same problem. How the heck did you get in there to epoxy and zip-tie that solenoid in place? Did you need to take the machine apart? Do you have any pictures of what you did that you could send to me? Thanks!

Thanks to Tony I discovered that my solenoid broke off its mount too. I epoxied and zip-tied it back and that seemed to fix that problem. The next problem I now have is that the grinder does not stop. Looks like the channel from the grinder to the front gets clogged easily. I've cleaned it out the best I could with a stick and even compressed air, and that worked for three cups. Now its clogged again.

I'd take it apart, but I can't get the steam knob off, which keeps me from taking the top off.

Hi,

Have you get any water in the grinder?

If you have that you have to take out the grinder and clean it.

Our Saeco Vienna Superautomatica sounds like it's grinding beans but keeps running until the red 'bean' light comes on and we have to shut the machine off. Any suggestions?

The grinder is timing out and stops if the beans do not enter the grinder. This happens because:
1- The grinder outlet is clogged and fresh beans cannot pass through the burrs.
2- The grind setting is too fine and helping clogging in the grinding chamber or the ground coffee outlet.
3- Operator may have been using dark roast oily beans. Like it or not, the dark roast oily beans do not make stronger espresso. Please stop using such beans in fully automatic espresso machines.
4- The grinder has already made over 2000 grinds and the burrs are blunted and not grinding beans as needed.
To solve this malfunction, clean the grinder. Make sure the grinder outlet to the doser is cleaned. This outlet passage is about 2 inches or more. To clean it, lay the machine on its back (water tank side) to allow better view of cleaning the doser and the passage of coffee from the grinder to the doser. Use the link below to find instructions for cleaning the grinder and replace the burrs.

Coffee beans out of message

HI
I hate to tell you this but your grinder is bad. The sensor in the grinder is messed up, and thinks its done grinding after 3 seconds. The grinder will have to be replaced. Sorry

Our Saeco Delux Magic coffee maker will not grind the coffee when we push the button. A light comes on that indicates that the grinder could be jammed.

Hi
The grinders run on a timer. If the grinders does not fill the doser in time you will get a light saying no beans. If this happens and there are beans in the hopper push the lever to the largest # and push the brew button again. This will clear the light and it should brew. If it is at the largest # already your beans are probably shiny and there is to much oil in the beans and this is what is clogging the grinder.

Saeco easy

Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the delay, i´m on sick-list and have not access to computer regulary.

Make sure you not get any damp into the grinder.
Try to grind little more coarse to see if the machine will grind the beans.

Have a nice day

Not clear on "Empty bean container/full grounds drawer) - not empty/not full. " But I gather that coffee is not being dispensed. Most Likely the grinder needs cleaning + brew group needs cleaning ( filter ). Do you get water/steam?

Your grinder needs cleaning- are you using oily beans and/or storing beans in refrig/freezer? Both are a problem for grinder. Also, grinder should not be set to "fine"- it will definitely cause clogging and the situation you point out.. After celaning grinder, will need to re-set it.
