I have plenty of ink but the printer doesn't print a complete line of text. it skips the bottom half of a sentence and then might print the top half of the next. Help!

Sounds like it's congealed ink on the print head. You can buy cleaning kits and do it your self. Relatively in expensive compared to leaving it into the shop.
This sounds like your word program and not your printer. The information from your word program is not being sent from the DLL correctly. Try a different word program or try reinstalling word. Phill
it could be the coagulation of ink in between the cartridge better dip it in mild hot water for some times and replace it wiping the water . it would do the trick and solve your problem . it has been practically tested.

Try replacing the Print head, if this does'nt help try purging the printer by having the printer pump ink through the nozzles by using clean funtion in your options and maintance menu. More then like the Black cartridge is clogged or needs replacing, Ink is put on paper by the unit heating the ink and outputing it to very small nozzles on the printhead.
I have a psc 2355 printer which only prints half of text then the next lines are ok then it repeats only printing half text. I removed my ink cartridge and wiped the ink ports with a tissue heavily moisten with water. Repeated this several times and then gently dried with a tissue. The problem was fixed!!
Seems like a problem with the printer head...It is usual for matrix printers and it happens due to wear and tear..You will have to get the printing head to get replaced..
