To only way you can fix it is taking apart the Tom Tom, checking if the flat ribbon cable and connector to the screen are well in place and eventually replace the display ($80 on Ebay). Unfortunately this will invalidate the guaranty, and you risk to damage your GPS if you are not a really experienced DIYer. Tom Tom offer one year full guaranty on all their receivers. One suggestion is to plug the Tom Tom using the temporary power cord to you home circuit (not the power source from the car). That worked for me. Sometime the Tom Tom shuts down when left in the hot car requiring a reset. Then the best way is to plug in at home and restart. Try it, otherwise I can't help.
the reset hole is hard to find... If you are looking at the back of the unit, it is in the upper right hand side of the liitle plastic protrusion at the top of the semi-circular opening above where you can see the exposed circuit board.
