Question about Harman Kardon AVR 7000

1 Answer

Volume increases rapidly without warning

I have a Harmon Kardon AVR 7000. I had this problem with the original unit I bought over two years ago. This occurred within a couple of months and the unit was replaced under warranty. It has now happened again with the second unit, which has worked fine until now. Is this a known issue with this receiver?

I have the same problem. My volume raises it's self on it's own. It is 7 or so years old so perhaps it's a circitry issue. I've never had the problem until now. Noticed it when I was playing a game on the PS3. But before that I was always hearing random breaks in my sound whiule watching TV and though it was my cable box making the noises. Perhaps the two are related to long term use and wear and tear. Does anyone have an answer?

I have the AVR 7000 as well with the same issue.  The volume increase rapidly every few months and has occurred for at least three years now.  Any suggestions by anyone would be great.

I Know that the 7000 has as issue with the dsp board .The capacitors dry up.I had to have all 36 changed .But this effected my processing. For ex.i could not play digital formats.Do the problem occur when you play a non-digital media?Like stereo?also i know that 2 ic'c need to be changed, not sure what numbers. It cost me 150 to have all that work done.Rating please

I have the Harman Kardon AVR 254. Just recently it stopped responding. It will cut on and the volume dial will respond but none of the front panel buttons will. Any suggestions on a fix?

There should be two fuses on the secondary board of the main power transformer. They don't look like regular fuses - they are small round can fuses. These are probably open. HK under-valued these fuses originally, and they need to be replaced with 3.15 amp.

I have a Harmon Kardon AVR2500, i want to connect my LP to the AMP, how is this done? Will there be variation in the sound out put.

Yes! there will, if the AVR2500 does not have phono inputs, the output sound will be barely there even at high volume. The solution is to find a phono preamp, Radio Shack use to sell them years ago. I suggest you try www.ebay.com and type phono preamp.

Hi my nameis Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see where you're not getting a picture buthave sound. There are some things you can check, first you will want to makesure all connections are tight and then make sure you're on the right input toreceive the DISH channels. I will leave a link to help with these steps, http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/setup-receiver.If you have any questions or concerns please e-mail me, michael.houston@dishnetwork.com.

Hi if there is an optical out on the television i would use that direct to your Harmon Kardon AVR 125, the sound would be in sync with picture, as the source is the same.

Harmon Kardon AVR 235 no sound

Ensure that your speakers are connected to the terminals that you have your speaker selector switch turned to.
Then check that you have your device, whether it be a CD or DVD player, or turntable, plugged into the correct input and that you also have the correct input selected on the receiver.

Was using the harmon kardon avr 225 receiver and the front panel went out. .... screen display of the channel number, volume, or menu item does not work. ...

Try hooking up a yellow video wire from the back of the AVR 225 Monitor out. Should be at the end of the 7 or 8 yellow video ports on the back of the stereo. Next plug the other end into a yellow video in on a t.v. Get your remote, (Harmon/Kardon) and make sure the t.v. is on the correct video input and hit the OSD(on screen display) button on your harmon remote. There should be a setting in there that says VFD under ADVANCED menu option that allows for turning the front of your stereo lights on and off and dimming them half way also. OFF/HALF/FULL are the 3 options I believe.

If this doesnt solve it your display may have crapped out on you.
