Hi.

My daughters phone does the same thing!! I have purchased a new mic from Ebay for a total of £3.08 including postage!! So not too expensive.

The microphone simply pulls out and pushes back in..so no need to solder!!

The mic can be found under the plastic cover with the "Walkman" logo on it. It can be popped off with a finger nail or a thin knife.

Unfortunately, replacing the mic did not work on my daughters. Apparently, sometimes the keyboard membrane needs replacing too as the mic is mounted on the same cable film. I will try this next if I can find one cheap enough!!!

Good luck!

Well it is hard to do but if dropped just the wrong way it is possible to disconnect the mic from the phones main board. If you have a hands free for the phone try ringing the home phone or the mobile from the home phone with the hands free connected if you can here the mobile like that your mic is gone. It is usually easy to get but expencive to replace. As the mic is soldered to the main board a lot of repair guys won't even attempt it because it is very difficult to replace without burning the main board and if they do they will usually not garrantee that they can fix it. hope this helped sorry it wasn't great news but maybe you have a repairer that is good with phone repairs that is capable of doing this for you. But try hands free first if at all possible.

The Sony Ericsson w580i is one of Sony Ericsson's lines of Walkman-branded handsets. These music focused phones are popular globally, but few of them have made it to the United States. The W580i is one of the few that has, carried by AT&T. And it's a good pick for the carrier.
The sound quality through the included stereo earbud headphones is superb and if you turn on the MegaBass boost feature in the Walkman player, the phone outputs full and powerful sound that booms. The W580i also has support for A2DP which allows the phone to play music via Bluetooth to stereo headphones. Like other Walkman phones, the W580i supports music files in the MP3/AAC/AAC+/e-AAC+) formats and you can rip music CDs using the included Disc2Phone software for Windows or using Sony Ericsson DVD Ripper for Mac.

Get rid off at&t logo etc out of my sony ericsson w580i at&t

I'm sorry to hear about that problem however the At&t logo cannot be switched because it is the manufacturer of the phone. I have the same phone and I was sort of upset about that too. Hope you enjoy your phone though.

Sony Ericsson W580i is not working.

Try this and let me know if it works, if not, I will suggest something else.

Turn off the phone, take the battery out and let it sit there for thirty seconds. Replace the battery, power up the phone and try it again. That should fix the problem.

Lost my mobile

The have the ability to do it, but the carrier will not track the mobile without a court order.  Only thing you can do is remove it from your account so that the person who has it cannot use it on your account.
