Re: not free video
Check your battery. Check the remaining space left on the memory card or in memory. Since the kind of camera is not mentioned, it may be some other problem here. Depending on the kind of camera, it can be that the camera will not allow more than what you are taking. Some digital cameras have a limit of only 40 seconds. Some have a much longer limit. Some cameras are limited only by the amount of memory remaining on the memory card or stick.

First of all, stop using camcorder. Better take the hard drive or memory card out of your cam and put it in safe place. Because a simple delete won't make your videos erased permanently. But if you continue save more files to the storage device. There will be a possibility the deleted video files are written over.
Then the most effective way is to rely on software to perform recovery. Try this Mac data recovery utility, see if it will help.
Your camera is a digital stills camera only with some limited video recording ability. It was never designed to be used as a webcam so lacks the components needed to stream live video feeds to any external device.
Often you won't have that option. What you will want to do is to use video editing software on your computer to string together the ones you want to play continuously and then save that. I believe that with the HDV178 software you can reload an edited video to your cam so that you can play it back on the cam to show friends without having to carry a DVD or computer with you.
try to use the software Picasa2 which you can download form the internet. this software is free and very easy to use. it is specifically for pictures and videos. use this to get those pics from your cam
