Well first thing i did was changing the Hard-drive (only to 60GB)

And installed Win XP Prof (don't know if it works with your WinXP home license though.)

Meanwhile I put in a new Display (same resolution, but more bg-light)
More Ram (1Gb now (2x512))
I even replaced the Processor with a Pentium M 1,4GHz (Centrino)

Everything's working fine

(only the CPU-fan acts a bit weird: watching High-Res-Pictures fast one after the other, the fan turns on and of each a new picture opened)

Now I'm thinking about putting in a 2GHz Pentium M
( and maybe changing the Wireless-card to on with two antennas)

Yes. You can get a bigger hard drive for it, no prob, 60, 80, 100, 120 is the biggest for these I believe, but I could be wrong. I've found that pricewatch.com has the best prices on hard drives.

Wanted a new battery for a medion notebook mod number MIM2080

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers for spare part supplies and Driver downloads (if applicable) as required.

The information is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

Medion MIM2080 MD95408 Original 40gb hard drive has died. Purchased 80gb replacement. Have cloned WIN_XP_PRO from another device onto new hard drive. When laptop boots all you get is a black screen...

did you get all the files? most likely there is a corrupt or missing set of files in the cloned files
i suggest you either get a new hard copy (disks) and install from there or use linux (most linux OS's are free online)

I have a Toshiba A45-S121 laptop. I upgraded my hard drive from a 40GB hard drive to a 320GB Western Digital. Loaded Windows XP and formated drive in FPTS format. The computer rebooted to the hard drive...

Best possible solution put back your 40GB and try to get an external casing for your 320GB to see if it works. And try windows on NTFS instead of FPTS, so reformat your 320GB and install the Windows XP again.
I hope this solution is helpful.

Is there a larger hard drive for the Toshiba Satellite A55-S1063. the hard drive that came with it is 40gb?

Go to their website and check under this model for upgrades. If not go on the Net and look up the upgrades from there. Good Luck

Can anyone tell me where I may be able to purchase a replacement lcd screen for a medion mim2080 laptop. Having real problems trying to locate one

There are only a _few_ manufacturers of LCD screens.

So, look on eBay for an LCD screen that is the same size as yours, especially if the seller states "generic" or "compatible with MIM2080", buy it, and install it (or get a qualified computer-technician to do it correctly & safely).

Yes, if you have 256MB RAM, you can put another 512MB.
Also 40GB HDD to 60/80/100 or more.
