HP Officejet d145 print head problem

Message said replace magenta printhead. This I have done and still get the same message. I think it is unlikely new hp printhead is faulty. Could there be another problem?

The print heads are new, but the machine says replace black printhead all the time. It is a little bit expensive to do this when they are only four month old and been used about twelve times.

Have done most things everyone suggests except buy new heads

Just today replaced the 3 color printheads. The same "bad printhead" message came up. I am sure I replaced the printheads as I have been replaces the ink cartridges for around 6 years now. I have faxes that come in on regular basis and have had that set on black only for a while. So I thought, the lack of use for color would have made the printhead replacement logical. Now I'm a bit annoyed that I wasted the money for the new printheads. By the way, the black does not print well either, often too faint to read.

Did you replace the PRINTHEAD, or did you replace the INK CARTRIDGE? They are not the same on the D145.

Good chance that you may have replaced the ink cartridge, not the magenta PRINTHEAD which sits under the ink cartridge.

PS - in my experience, non-HP ink cartridges clog up HP printers with separate printhead mechanisms... any possibility here?

Good luck!

My HP Officejet Pro L7780 All-In-One InkJet Printer was jammed with paper. I believe I got it all out and now the display reads" Printhead problem- the following printhead has a problem: magenta/cyan...

There are two possibilities here Joanne, first, it could be a false error message or else second, the Cyan/Magenta print head has gone bad.Try the following:
1. Take the Cyan/Magenta printhead out. Remember, the printhead...not the cartridges.
Clean the copper contacts with a Q Tip, moistened with plain water. Wait till it dries, put the printhead back in.
2. If this does not resolve the issue, unplug the power cord from the back and press and hold the power cord for 30 sec. This will drain all the static charges. Plug it back after a couple of minutes and see if the error message re appears.

Message "A printhead has a problem:magenta/cyan" is driving me nu

Hi Gran, I think these cartridges have print head built into them just change the cartridges that are reported magnta and cyan and i think it should rectify itself Often the simple solution is the one thst works and msany people look at all the hightech answers without considering the message that is given.
You can check the situatioin by removing the cartridge aqnd checking if there is what lkookjs like a circuit board with holes at the base of the cartridge This will be the print head. try wiping with alcohol first and then replace or put in a new one (only 1 first) and seeing iof its just the nesxt color being the problem

HP D145 need new print head (magenta)

You can purchase a magenta printhead from HP's site here. Before you do that make sure it is the printhead - this model uses separate ink and printheads. Are you receiving an error message that the printhead is defective?

The following printhead(s) has a problem Black/Yellow[K/Y].

Simple solution is:

Replace the Black and Yellow Print Catridges. The print heads are mounted to the bottom of the catridges and these, depending on whther they're from HP or not. can have a hard time conducting electricity properly, and in turn.. spitting ink out properly.

Also happens often with aftermarket Catridges because HP puts chips on the catridge. be sure to put an HP catridge. Sometimes you get what you pay for :)

Does it happen when you try to print from an application - like Microsoft Word or even Notepad? How about printing a test page from the properties page of the printer?
Sounds like either the printheads are clogged or there is no ink at all. Try running a few cleaning cycles. If you're sure you have ink, then try cleaning or replacing the printheads.
