Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I own a D Link DSL-G604T Wireless Modem. When i connect through any other modem, the connection is perfect, but when i attempt connecting through D link, all appear okay, including diagnostics and port check... even connection on desktop verifies the modem is working okay, yet when i go to connect though Firefox, all i get is "Address not found". Please remember that my computer assures me it is connected and fully working, right down to checking the Bytes transferred and recieved, but, again, when i click on the browser, nothing. To make things even more complex, no settings, firewall or otherwise have been altered and to add an extra dimension of inexplicable scenario, this modem was working perfectly 48 hours ago.... SO, i borrowed a friends identical modem, which to my relief, worked at first.. then, 24 hours later, did the same thing! I do not have children to fiddle with my computer, neither do i have any viruses or problems, in fact, nobody except myself has been near my PC!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!! Kind Regards JAmes croftjam@gmail.com

Go into control panel network connections and make sure it is active and not disconnected in there. Sometimes they disconnect and you may find it is an install problem. If it says that it is connected uninstall and reinstall software and see if that helps the only other thing I can think of without seeing pc with this info is it maynot be fast enough for your net connection what sort of net you runnig through it? speed

Where is the wireless switch on the dell vostro 200

Unlike notebook computers, most desktops don't come with wireless networking built in. I can't find any mention on Dell's site that the Vostro 200 has wireless capability, so this computer doesn't have a wireless switch. To use your desktop computer on a wireless network, you'll need to install a wireless adapter. USB adapters are very easy to use since you just have to plug them in. They're not expensive and you can easily find them at retail stores and online.

My HP a6200n won't connect to the internet. it says it's connected to and unidentified network. It is a DSL hookup and I also have a wireless router hooked to it the router is pumping out signal which is...

directly connect the dsl modem to your pc and then restart your system. once your up and running the pc should automatically create a connection with the modem device. once you have established an internet connewction this way, shut down the system and reboot. after complete bootup, unplug the power supply cords to both the modem and the router. now plug im the modem, wait 1 minute and plug in the router. after about a minute you should now be able to connect to the internet both by your pc and wireless connections.

Internet no longer working, but internal network is fine.

i agree with all the above.. it's definately clear as mud how the network is designed and or funtioning. The machines connected to the wireless d-link router.. are they via cat5 inthe wired ports or wireless ? is the server the machine thats connecting to the switch and wiress router and modem? i'd say reset all switches modems routers and machines.. shut them all down.. then fire the cable modem, then the wireless router then the desktop switch then the server, the workstations and the one lonely wireless.. run "ipconfig /all" on all machines and if they aren't all sharing common ips and access, provide the results here for further investigation.

I have a new laptop that i am trying to connect to a wireless connection. I have a speedtouch modem which has a dsl line

Your modem must first have wireless capability. If not, you need to buy a wireless router which you need to connect to the modem. Once you've done that, you can actually call the manufacturer of the router so they can walk you through setting up the wireless connection.

Not sure if i got dsl-924 set up right it keeps loosing internet connection

If ur internet connection is unconnected in between intervals of some 5 to 10 minutes, then it may be problem of ur MODEM or LAN card. The cable may be loose or the device may be faulty. The DSL link setup is perfectly OK. try changing ur MODEM/LAN card with other one.

I have a netgear wireless router which I need to configure. Part of the process requires me to connect the router to the modem. However the modem uses a USB connection. How do I connect it to the router?

I would check you have the right router, as DSL and cable use different types routers, if you are on a DSL connection my advice would be to return the router and purchase a modem/router and do away with your modem, if you are on cable modem, you have bought a DSL modem as they have no connection for a modem.

Try contacting the DSL provider, if not All-Operatingsystems-Lost.
U may try Start-controlpanel-network connections-local area connection-properties
Ensure correct card under connect using.
click on configure.
click on advanced.
reset to auto detect
click ok
reboot
There are sometimes issues with the PPPOE. the DSL provider should be able to resolve this.
