This is an extended display. You can move open windows, icons, or folders over to the second screen. This is called a dual-monitor setup. You can also set the second monitor to duplicate what your primary monitor is showing.
Did you swap the monitors to see if the problem follows or stays at the same video output port since you have dual monitors set up? Need verify before opening up the monitor.
Unfortunatley your monitor is going out. I just had that problem. My sceen would come on, but after about 10min. it would blink off and turn black. I would have to hit the off button on the monitor, then turn it back on. It would work fine for a few minutes then black out again. I got a new/used monitor where I no longer have that problem.
I did check to make sure my hybernate was not activated, it wasn't, I had it set to never turn off.
1. Power setting/screen saver - this could be build into the monitor or a setting in the power options in the control panel.
2. improper setting for the monitor....this could be the refresh rate most likely.....right-click in a blank area of the desktop, go to properties, settings tab, advanced.....there should be an option in one of the tabs that has an option for refreash rate...make sure it is set to 60.....
If not one of these two things, than it is a faulty monitor......probably not worth getting fixed....hopefully still under warranty??
ok, get to the event where you get this to happen "...then turn it back on the monitor does come on normally...", but just after power-up, press the F8 key to go to safe mode. If nothing visible, press ENTER anyway...get to safe mode yet?
while the monitor is still powered on, but with the LED flashing, unplug the monitor from the PC. press the power button, and the monitor should go off, now plug the pc back into the monitor. Turn the monitor back on and it should work.
Occasionally this will not work for me, but if I repeat it it normally works
Hope this helps - my problem is intermitant so it may be different to what u guys have
