Most washers require both hot and cold supply. If it has two hose fittings on the back, then you need both hot and cold. I've only seen Asko washers that need just the cold. Even if your washer has a water heat option, it will only heat during a portion of the cycle if the option is selected, it is not a substitute for the hot water supply.

Some washers require that both water sources are connected. If you are content with cold - water washing only, I would get a Y-hose connector and run both sides of the washer to the cold water line. See picture below for details.

Cold Fill Washing Machine Does Not Get Hot

Do y7ou have 2 hoses at the back of the machine one for cold water and one connected to the hot water tap of the house. If not then you have a cold water in only. If you have 2 hoses have you connected the hoses into the machine correctly Have you checked to see if your machine has a heating element under the bowl for heating the water. As an appliance shop to verify if you have by the model number of the machine. otherwise you have a cold washing machine and unless you can plumb hot water to it that is all you will have.

Hooked up hot and cold water supply turned on machine and it leaked from the back and would not fill the tub did not leak at water connections

I suggest turning off the hot and cold water at the valve source. Disconnect both hot and cold water connections on the back of the washer. Take a flash light and inspect the threaded internal connection, most washers have an internal screen, that may be partially or fully clogged with debris from your water source. If all is fine, I would look at the valve blender.

We have no hot water boiler kaput - will washing machine heat water (hot wash) if only cold water is going into inlets.

Yes. The washing machine contains heating element and a thermostat. It will try to get water from both hot and cold sources and will heat the water to the required temp.

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WD420 washer/dryer that is not heating the washing water, yet does heat when in drying mode. Does the machine use the same heating element for washing and drying, or are there...

There is a seperate element for the water heater. so likely to be a faulty heater or thermistor which is fastened toi the element
You really need a test meter to determine which part is faulty.

Hi. I've just been loaned a Whirlpool awm 5125/4 washing machine (while mines gone for repair), but it has on the back of the machine, a hot inlet and a cold inlet. My machine only requires a cold water...

Hi,

Your machine can be connected for cold fill only but, you will need to connect a "Y-Piece" for it to work:
belectric_29.jpg
The tail of the "Y" attaches to the cold water valve on your pipework. You then attach both hot and cold water hoses to the branches of the "Y" and connect both hot and cold water hoses to your washing machine. The wash cycles will take longer when connected this way as the machine has to heat the water internally. It will also be less energy effecient.

Please post back if you need further assistance.

Cold water fill does it heat to temputure requied?

Hi,

If your washing machine has inlets for both hot and cold water, you should connect both if possible. If you can only connect cold water, the washing machine will still work and heat to the required temperature, but it will need to heat the water in the machine, so the wash cycles will take longer and it will use more energy.

If connecting a hot and cold fill washing machine with cold water only, you will need to connect a Y-Piece for it to work:

What is the F20 error code?

F-20 error code in Whirlpool Duet Sport washing machine is indication of inadequate water supply. Check both hot and cold water supply lines to make sure machine gets enough water intake. If you do not have a hot water supply to the machine you can only run it with the cold temperature setting. This machine does not have an internal water heater and relies on the hot water supply from the house water heater.

ASKOs have no hot water hook-up because they heat their own water. They only need cold water. It's not a problem, it's supposed to be that way!

I think it's because they're designed for the market in Europe, where central hot water isn't necessarily the norm.

WHAT HOSE OR FITTINGS DO YOU NEED TO CONENCT ADMIRAL TOP LOADER WASHING MACHINES. UK HOSE SETS DON'T SEEM TO FIT! JON DAVIES

A standard hose should fit, they are standard on mine, you need good water pressure especially on hot, or you will find the hot water trickles into the machine when damanding hot water.
I use a seperate pump for the hot, the pump is connected to the hot valve supply and starts when hot water is required.
