The device cannot initialize HDD?

When I turn on the player it says "Initial Fail - the device can not initialize HDD. Please, connect to adaptor and try again..." And my PC won't detect the device either.

Remove the back panel of the player you will probably find that it will work fine. I did this to my daughters unit and found that the panel was pushed in and depressing the reset button all the time. I rescued it out of the garbage when she bought an i-pod, now I have this unit for myself and it works great.

I have 20 GB HDD which can'not detected is any software detect it

try to check it on CMOS setup, and see if ur HDD is detected there, then also check the jumper settings of your HDD, is it connected as master drive, or slave, then check other devices jumper settings for CDROM or other HDD connected to your PC. (do this for initial troubleshooting)

No hdd found...

Hi.

Most new hard drives are not partitioned nor formatted and therefore are not ready for use when first bought. They have to be initialized/prepared for whatever device they will be attached to. Formatting may be FAT, FAT32, NTFS and others.

This could be done using a PC where the hard drive (HD) could be initially/temporarily installed as a secondary master/slave and use the Operating System to partition and format making it ready for use. Alternately, an external casing with USB interface may be used.

For your purpose, you need to determine in what format will your digital video player/recorder accept the new HD. This may be found in the manual. Alternately, some digital video player/recorder has this feature/option that will allow you to format newly attached to HDs.

Should the above be not sufficient, please post back with the brand and model of your digital video player/recorder.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
