Computer won't recognize external usb hard drive

try it on another computer if that dosent work you should
reformat your computer but first backup all your data by putting your another internal hardrive on your computer and move all your files you need to the empty hardrive and after that take the hardrive with all your stuff in it off the computer and then reformat the hardrive which the external hardrive does not work on and install a new operating system then put the other hardrive with all your stuff back on your computer and transfer your stuff into the hardrive with a operating system then try the external hardrive

OR
you can burn all your stuff into a CD or a DVD
OR
you can put all your stuff into FlashDrives and then after you reformat the hardrive with an operating system put your stuff back into the computer and after that the external hardrive should work

I have installed 500GB HDD in my lenovo 3000H series desktop but it got hangs while trying to install win 7 or gives the dump error. Will it support 500GB?

Hi,

Your Lenovo desktop supports 500Gb but it seems like it's not taking your Windows 7 installer well. Have you tried the following steps?

1. Format the HDD using the Windows 7 Installer and re-install Windows 7?
2. Tried a different installation method (using a DVD or a USB installer)

If all of the above steps fails and this is a new HDD that you just recently purchased, you might wanna consider checking this additional Troubleshooting Steps.

External hardrive wont transfer data

looks like the usb connection pins are not touching the other connection pins. just check the pins touch each other surface then the data will transfer. check all four pins. if it is a standard A connector then far two pins are power supply and middle two pins are data pins.

v- data- data+ v+
the above are the pins in a standard usb connector

I have seagate free agent 500gb when i plugged it 1st time everything was fine, now windows vista is telling me that cannot recognize it

Power cycle the drive itself; once the interface is reset or the power restored to the external drive, Vista will be happy with it again (I rather expect.) Don't forget to put vibration isolation mounts under your drives if summer construction/excavation is coming.

I purchased external drive from Techwizard in CA WD my Book 500GB External USB Drive Model number WD5000C032-002 I have a laptop I tried to get the drive to work and it keep asking me for a CD disk but...

Does the drive work when you plug it into a different computer? If it doesn't work with any computer you try, it may just be a bad drive.

Memory upgrade

I like all the information you gave. However the information you are looking for is in the manufactures web site. goto search engine and enter your computers manufactures name followed by the word "support" find the site and then look up the details for your computer. The reason I say this is because each slot can only control a certain amount of memory. The manufacture will tell you what each slot can control and also the type of memory supported by your motherboard. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT> never mix memory. Make sure of speed and capacity. If you mix diffrent speed and capacities the results could end in total failure.
