When i was pulling into the gas station my car turned off and my steering wheel locked. It said i was out of oil, but i am not and about 20 min. later it started again and the oil light and check engine are gone.

Check for bad belt on power steering pump.

check for oil level in the reservoir. Check the drive belt for condition and tension. BY turning the wheel from lock to lock (recycling the wheel )you are in effect bleeding air out of the system

Is your steering wheel turned tight.Sometimes if you park and leave your wheels turned a little bit it pulls on the lock on the steering wheel sometimes.You have to try and move your steering wheel when its off and see if its real hard to move.try pulling the steering wheel off the lock and turn the key.also I think u meant the brain.

Look inside the reservoir while the car is running and see if it is low. If it is turn the car off and add power steering fluid. You can purchase at a gas station or parts house. Some people use transmission fluid but it is not a good Idea because it can cetch on fire if you have leak in your power steering system. You can look for leaks when you have someone steer the car fom side to side. Make sure you turn the wheel tight so the whinng is at it's loudest. Check your power steering hoses and rack and pinion,etc. Hope this helps leave a comment.

Your steering wheel could be turned and the vehicle sitting in such a way the the steering wheel is putting pressure on the column lock. Pull the wheel one way or the other and see if that frees it up. Good luck.

Try turning the steering wheel (hard) right and left while turning the key. Steering lock , and ignition lock work in conjunction with each other.

Inside where the key goes give a couple of squirts of three in one oil or similar. It may help.

under the steering column right behind the steering wheel is a rubber cover that will pull right out,stick your finger up in the hole and u will feel a pin, push it toward the pass side and turn the key back to the off posision and it will come out

Grab steering wheel very hard try to turn it in either direction, very hard and turn key at same time
