Yes, big problem. Do a google search on this; lots of forums and advice available but it involves the optical engine and is usually an expensive repair unless you have warranty service still covering the set.
can you feel if the surface is rough has it been cleaned with an abrasive cloth like a scouring cloth used for dishes as this will scratch the surface of the screen try getting a good polish spray on but dont spray to much on and use a soft cloth ideally a proper duster cloth see if they polish out if not the the screen surface has been scratched this can be polished out but you will need to get a pro to do this as doing it your self could ruin the telly permanenty as this is a delicate job to do hopefully you should polish these marks off but if not i would get somebody out to look at the telly to get the scratches polished out of the screen this should not cost to much but will save the frustration of watching a smuged screen the only thing you can do yourself is try polishing the screen properly in case she cleaned it and the cleaning product is still on screen if not you will need to get the screen profesionally polished goto a tv repair shop and these should tell you who to call hope this is some help to you but their isnt much you can do yourself
no its a DLP they are having some troubles with the dlps losing signal due to the digital board. verticle ICs only effect CRT projections by making the CRTs shutdown . Dlps are all controlled by the digital board. They are very expensive when you can find them. They are usually over 800 and need to be special orderd. I would pass on the TV. You can buy one cheaper than fix that
if you look into the blue crt it will be very foggy..the coolant in the crt needs changing.
you may want to contact a local tv repair person for more advice and coolant changing procedures....john
