IceBoxnot getting cold

I have a GE Icebox and the freezer is running none stop and causing it to freeze and the icebox is not getting cold. I have turned it off and let it thaw but it didnt fix the problem. Top portion of frig not getting cold, bottom not gertting cold and ice is building up on coils at back of bottom freezer, Can see ice through vent at back of bottom freezer. Thawing out helps but ice eventually comes back.

Thanks tommytgee, I replaced the defrost thermostat and it now works fine. Your response was a day late, but appreciated just the same.

Sounds like a similar problem I have, but with a top loaded freezer/refrigerator. I took the back panel of the freezer out (carefully so as not to break anything). I discovered ice covering everything; coil, defrost heater, and perhaps a defrost timer (I didn't see one). I suspect (according to what I've been able to find on the internet without having to pay for a response) that the defrost heating element and/or defrost timer are defective. I only use this 4 yr old refrigerator seasonally, so I don't mind having to manually defrost the freezer. I will try to get parts in the states when I return in the fall. This doesn't tell you how to repair the problem in entirety; but it may give you a hint and possible temporary solution. Oh, I used a hair dryer to melt all the ice covering the above noted freezer parts. My refrigerator is working just fine; however, I'm sure that it'll build up with ice once again. I'm leaving in 6 weeks, so I don't care so long as I know that I can remedy the problem for now. The article I read recommended using a volt meter tester; that I'm not familiar, it may very well allow me to determine which part is defective. The heater coil is about $25, I didn't check on the timer. Try this site: http://www.applianceaid.com/defrost_cycle.html . Good luck. Tom

Kenmore refrig/freezer. freezer side is cold,

Check your condenser coil (should be below the refrig.). If dirty, you can clean it with a condenser brush from Home Depot or Lowe's. Turn the appliance off while cleaning. Be careful not to damage the refrigerant tubing (copper). If this doesn't solve the problem, then there may be an issue with the defrost thermostat, defrost heater(s) or the main temperature control assembly.

Contact an appliance service company.

Fridge not getting cold, ice maker not making ice

It sounds like it is doing some cooling. Check to see if your evaporator fan is running and there is not ice buildup on your evaporator (indicating a defrost issue, common on ge refrigerators, usually heater goes bad), you would either see ice on the back wall of freezer or if you take off the back wall you will see lots of frost. Also check if your condensor fan is running and clean the condensor. The compressor is running since it is getting down to 27 but if it is not being cooled it will shut down. Another common problem on the ge refrigerator is the main board contacts going bad and not running the compressor. If your compressor is running the whole time and none of the other conditions exist it sounds like you have a leak or restriction in the refrigerant or sealed system.

Problem with everything freezing inside icebox no matter where the control is set.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

Ice box

you have a leak or the compressor is not starting, you need to pull the frig. out and see if you see any oil on the lines this would mean the freon is leaking out, also put your hand on the comp. and see if you feel it running if not you would need to go to your local appliance part store and get a 3in1 start kit and install it ,it's easy the directions are to the part, hope this helps you-mike

Ariston fridge freezer - drips water

I'm afraid if the door isn't sealing properly and staying cold then the ice will always be melting somewhat and dripping. Is there ANY way to glue/epoxy/fiberglass that part back on or repair the door, etc.? If you can't get repair parts either you may be stuck with a broken cooler. It seems like some shop (boat shop, auto bodyshop, etc.) should be able to repair those items with fiberglass or something. I guess it just depends on the cost to repair verses to buy new again.
