JVC DR-MV7SU Timer recording/no channels

I am trying to set up timer recordings, but I can't get it to change channels on the timer. When I arrow up or down under the channel slection slot, I get chan 4, AV1, or AV2.

What do I need to do to get it to choose the correct satellite channel? I have recorded the same channel several times by just hitting record when the TV was on the channel I wanted to record.

I think the channel # is supposed to show up on the DR screen. Is that correct?
