Question about Samsung LN-S4692D 46 in. LCD HDTV
Can anyone guide me (pic, label, etc.) to the fuse on this t-con board?
I've replaced the t-con board and now want to repair the blown fuse in the old one. I have no idea how to find it. A tech did tell me the fuse was blown but I didn't look ar where it was. I just ordered a board and replaced it. I feel there is very excessive heat coming out of the back of this series TV (I didn't like the amount of heat from). and couldn't that heat be the culprit behind the mass failures of this this totally enclosed board?
thank you for any info.
This answer is generic:
Most of the time they use fuse resistors. Sometime there a number of them. They are not all the same. This is not a simple fuse. It is a resistor combined with a fuse. You would need the service manual to properly identify the fuse resistor and have its spec. You would then have to order the correct one from a parts distributor. If it cannot be replaced generically, the original would have to be ordered from the manufacture.
In any case, if there is a blown fuse on a power supply board you can be sure that there are failed components that are most likely shorted. This would mean that the board would have to be troubleshooted to find and replace the defective parts.
Most of the circuit areas and the boards in these sets are not supported to be serviced at the component level. They change the defective boards as in the same process as servicing computers.
As for the heat problem, if you can find someone who is technically very competent, maybe he can custom install a fan for the area that is getting heated. It should be possible to find a 12 volt source from the main power supply to run a small fan to assist for extra cooling.
If you have your set in a cabinet, or if it is wall mounted it may run hotter. We found that sets that are wall mounted tend to fail more often because the heat can reflect off of the wall back in to the set. Cabinets tend to not allow the heat to dissipate as well as out in the open.
