It was a good solution, but the problem is with my internet provider. McAfee is off-line.

Look under Proggys and make sure it is not installed, delete any folders it created, delete the installation file if you have it. then go to "tools" at top of screen on toolbar and then' internet options" and erase your cookies. Now reboot your computer. Temporarily turn off any security you do have including windows firewall. Also turn off any running proggys showing on you lower left. Now try to download again. when the download screen comes up click on save then save to your "desktop". If you get it, it will be an exe file on your desktop. If this all works, now you can click on the exe file and install the program. If it works, then when you are finished be sure that you do have working security. The new and windows firewall if it does not have a firewall. If it doesnt work, turn you security right back on. Good Luck. If nothing works, it is their problem not yours and you should contact them on their site.

Is this for a commercial or home setup?

I am the securities moderator on another site and I spend a lot of time helping people untagle themselves from McAfee.

With all due respect to McAfee, Norton and Trendmicro, these three anitivirus applications have become major system resource hogs slowing people machines down ridiculously.

AVG 8.0 free adition now has antivirus, antispyware and real time link scanners bundled with it.

The current recommended level of protection is:

Windows XP with service pack 3 (fully updated)

Windows Vista with service pack 1 (fully updated)

AVG 8.0 or Avast (Avast can be a little heavy on system resources)

    Spybot Search and destroy

    SuperAntiSpyWare

    Malwarebytes

If you use your machines behind a router, Windows firewall and the builtin hardware firewall of your router is considered good enough.

    AVG can be downloaded here:

Spybot Search and Destroy can be downloaded here:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/it/downl...

    SuperAntiSpyware can be downloaded here:

Malwarebytes (trial version) can be downloaded here:

Try to check first if the McAfee Security can be find on your all programs or under add/remove then remove it from there then run again the setup cd but try to install it on a different drive, because this is a common problem with this software.

This is going to be a software issue that you will need to contact McAfee support for.

This may just be a server error on their end. Wait a day and try it. then, if it doesn't authenticate, contact McAfee support.

Every time I try to download from macafee cd,I get and error and it shutdown my internet ,then I have to start in safe mode and restore, I am running windows 7

1. Uninstall any other firewalls you may have on your computer. On Windows, you can find these programs under the "Security Center" on the "Control Panel." To prevent computer shutdowns, make sure you plan to install the new McAfee Firewall right away.
2. Wait to receive an email from McAfee that you can download your firewall. After your payment has been processed, they will send you a link to log into the McAfee website.
3. Log in your account by selecting "My Account" from the McAfee website. You will need to give the email address and password that you set when you purchased the firewall.
4. Go to "Account Info." Under this heading, you will find a listing of the McAfee products, including the firewall. Choose the firewall selection and then double click the "Download" icon.
5. Restart your computer once the download is complete. McAfee Firewall will be set to launch at start up. Click on the McAfee icon on your Windows program tray. Make sure the firewall is turned to "On." This should help protect your computer from problems like shutdowns. If you still experience problems, run a virus and spyware scan to remove any malware.

Run the following symantec tool to remove old download manager entries:

I had this problem as well as I used a Norton product before I switched to McAfee because of Comcast. The install worked for me after this simple tool cleaned the Norton Download Manager registry entries.

I need to load Mcafee onto a new computer

To avoid conflicts, you should uninstall any other security software you have now, either through its own uninstall or by going to the Control Panel "Add and Remove Programs".

Install the new software. Run its update program immediately if it didn't do it automatically during the install process.
