Question about Motorola Talkabout T5700 AA (22 Channels) 2-Way Radio

I get static after someone else talks

I work at a camp and we have a bunch of Motorola Talkabout radios. Some of them have static issues. I have one now that after anyone else is done talking my radio keeps open to the channel and just gives loud static from the speaker.

One of the main causes of static can be a bad battery. If you are using rechargeable batteries you need to replace them every 14-18 months. If you are using alkaline batteries, they have been known not to fully power the radio once your cross the 10 hour mark. Your radio would then be operating in somewhat of a brown out. This would lead to static.

Another cause of static is simply being nearly out of range of the other radio(s).

The burst of white noise at the end of Rx on some radios can be rather annoying. On the basic talkabout radios there is nothing which can be done to solve the problem, other than replacing the radio.

Constant static on talkabout t5320

Could be a sign of a bad battery. Static is a good indicator of a rechargeable battery nearing end of life.

Issues with Motorola TalkAbout T5900 (14 Channels) 2-Way Radio. Do they need FCC programing & licensing to operate? Because I can not get the to communicate with each other!

Yes they do.The thing about the talkabout is that they work according to the network area they are connected to and the number of the talkabout they are also connected to.So all you need do now is to take the talkabout to motorola shop so that they can confrigure it for you.

Sends transmission okay but, even with volume set high it receives faintly.

You have one of three problems:

1) You are using the radio with another model of radio which is set to wideband channel spacing. (The TalkAbout is narrowband.)

2) You have a radio with a problem. (bad speaker, or plugged speaker grill possibly, or an internal issue)

3) The transmitting radio has a problem, or has debris or something covering the mic hole.

The only way to narrow down the problem is to have a third known good radio in the mix. This will let you know which radio is problematic. The TalkAbout models are for the most part non-repairable (other than the TalkAbout Distance models and the T7200 and T7400.)

I have a bunch of two-way radios and one set is the talkabout 250. The problem is I dont know anything about two-ways and I want to get all the radios to work together. help

The Talkabout is a user programable radio. You will need to put the radio in the programing mode and program it to the other radios.
Go here for the manual.

can you check the PL or DPL setting on the radio that is all stadic when you receive a call?

The radio is going into monitor mode after a call is received. This is most often a PL or DPL issue.

Motorola Talkabout T5400

Hello, There is not compability issue, sounds like you have a mic problem because you hear the Roger Beep and that means that the transmition and Reception cicle is working if you could test an audio accesorie would be great. There is another possibility if one of the radios is out of frequency you could experiment the same symtoms.
