Question about Hitachi DZ-MV230A DVD Camcorder

Hitachi DVDCAM Will not eject disc

I purchased this unit from Circuit City in 2003.  It worked fine until a month ago, but not will not eject a disc and I get an error message ("Error has occurred, please restart").I was told that Circuit City  would not not make repairs of of cameras out of warranty.  Sears said they would, but failed to make the repair saying that they could not get parts.  They did remove the DVD Ram disc from the unit.  I have a great deal of good video on this DVD but don't know how I can read it without an operating camera.  Do you have any ideas for getting a repair or getting the video off of the DVD?
Thanks, Burt

Try to put the dvd disc to a dvd rom of your computer. i hope it reads it. then save it to your computer. so that in near future youll have the videos from the dvd disc. edit it in some video making softwares like ulead movie maker, windows movie maker, nero movie maker etc.. and make a full quality dvd video of your own. hope that helps!

Hi there, I purchased a Bush lcd/ dvd combi for my daughter 18 months ago.... All of a sudden it is not reading the dvds and automatically ejecting them, any ideas on what the problem is, and how possibly...

Hello
There are two possibilities for this fault. The first one is the spinning problem of disc inside it. If loaded disc does not spins, the mechanism will eject it. The reason for this is damaged sled motor. Sled motor is one which spins the disc inside at high speed. It can be replaced. The second reason is of Laser Pickup Unit itsef. If it does not emit laser beam, the main system circuit will recogonise as there is no disc in the tray, and play function is energised, and will eject the tray out. Check for the first one. This is most comon fault with DVD players. OK.

Probelm ejecting the dvd from my Hitachi GX3100A

If you go to the Hitachi website, you can download the product manual for your camcorder there.

These are the instructions for opening the dvd door.

1 Press down the DISC EJECT button once and
release it.
A few moments after the ACCESS/PC
indicator blinks, the cover of disc insertion
block will open.
2 Gently open the cover by hand fully until it
stops.

This is the link for the owners manual search: http://www.hitachionlinestore.com/survey/manualsearch.aspx

Hope this helps.

Hitachi won't replace

I had the same problem a red halo that eventually led to complete discoloration. I called Hitachi and they had their local rep come out and look, they said it would cost $400 to install $1500 new light engine. Then a couple of months ago, I read a post on this site (Varian - Feb. 14, 2008 - suggesting Hitachi Customer Relations at 800-654 7013 was providing the light engine without charge).

So, I called them again and was not able to persuade them to cover my Hitachi LCD projection (50V500). It appears Hitachi has a poor record with their Light Engine as well all of their new generation TV. They have since stopped selling the LCD projection, but they are into plasma and LCD TV and likewise do not seem to have a good track record - as I hear from other users.

I did the smart thing and switched over to a Sony XBR4 Bravia 52" LCD TV 1080p HD at a reduced price (Approximately $2800 from Amazon.com!). My Hitachi cost me about $ 3600 at a Circuit City Store. Therefore, no Hitachi products for me and not from Circuit City, since, Circuit City asked for $4000 for the same Sony TV, I bought from Amazon, which included delivery and installation. Circuit City would add another $80 for delivery.

HITACHI really sucks!!! Put these people out of business!

You can get them at Best buy. You must buy the same disc as it is spelled out on the side of the camera. Buy, DVD-RAM/R. There are DVD+ and DVD-, you must be sure to buy just like it's printed on the camera (just under the viewfinder).
