Burn in is caused by leaving a image on for too long such as a station with a logo constantly displayed. or using video games that get paused. Burn in is not repairable without having the CRT rebuilt with new phosphorus or replaceing the CRT

How do I identify a burnt component, I've dissasembled a monitor which was not working (stopped working with a popping noise) I can see a couple of burnt components on the power supply board.
