Laptop I have a HP Pavillion ZV5000, and the charger end will not charge, It has been a problem for a while, but if I plugged it in just right it would charge, know it will not. I belive the problem is with the connection in the computer. Cant this be repaired and if so how much would it be, and would it be worth repairing or should I just give up and get a new laptop?

my pavillion zv 5000 also began with low battery problems, always had to be plugged in because the battery never lasted. then i would have to fudge around with the battery connection to the compu because sometimes it wouldnt show it was charging, moving it around made it connect again. now my whole computer just turns off whenever it wants without a low battery warning to which i am unsure if it is battery related. i check the ac connection and it shows the battery always at 1% and never charges....

I had the same problem, I had to remove the mother board ad the female plug that the charger plugs into had come un soldered. resoldered the connections and it worked fine and the battery started to charge up fully. It is a pain in the but to take apart so if your not very mechanicly incline don't try it your self

On my zv 5000 similar problem occured, turned out it was the connection where the charger went in. I had it repaired for about £100. This was about two years ago.

Please check first that does the notebook work fine on the battery mode.
if system does not work on battery mode also it is a fault of the board that would have to be replaced

if it works fine on battery, then the problem could be with the adapter
to check the same, please try using another adapter or the same adapter on another hp notebook.
if the adapter does not work on another notebook, please get the adapter replaced.

Problem with your charger, try this :

1. Check whether the charger plug is properly inserted in the Power port/jack of your Laptop!

2. Check the power cord (any cuts OR torn-out)!

3. If above steps don't work, replace your charger.

No power from cord to computer

If your laptop is under warranty go back to the manufacturer. If not go to hp center and buy a power cord of your charger which is totally fix to the charging hole.

Good luck

HP Pavilion ZV5000 Charger

HP has a cord that plugs into the right side of the zv5000 that is intended for use with a docking station that they sell separately. The connector has a blade with a bunch of connections, but I only use 2, power and ground. The outermost contacts are power +and-. I bought the cord - re-wired my power cord to the new cord power wires - takes some figuring to determine correct wires - soldered them up and it has worked great for 2 years - much better connector also - squeeze side tabs to plug in or un-plug. This solution was about $25 if I remember - compared to $135 that the shop quoted me to replace the internal MB power connector

Yes this can be repaired, and I believe this to be a good machine and worth it. The cost for a jack repair is approx $100 at most smaller computer shops. Bestbuy, however, will be a heck of alot more expensive. You should have the jack repaired ASAP. A loose or broken jack can cause an electrical arch which can, in turn, cause severe damage to the machine. Damage that may force you to buy a new laptop.
