Availability of ink

Can other ink cartridges be substituted for inkjet cartridges #92 and #93 in a inkjet printer C3150? That is other than a #100. Also are there higher capacity cartridges?

Unfortunately not, there are no substitutions for 92 or 93, and they don't come in any larger size than 220 page yield however, HP do sell a twin-pack of both these cartridges in their website shop at a 10% discount. Hope this answers your query.

And here's the best explanation I can give you. Most printers produced nowadays are detectable by mostly their brand of printer. This means if you buy a Canon Printer you have to buy canon ink. Nasty huh. Also, nowadays, people are moving to separate ink for color i.e. one blue, one yellow, etc as opposed to one cartridge that contains all of them.

Basically what I'm saying is that you would have a very hard time finding something that is compatible. Even if you did, you probably wouldn't be able to find one that the Canon would detect.

Do I have to have a color cartridge in order to print? Can I just use a black ink cartridge?

The HP DeskJet 6122 can print with both or only one ink cartridge installed. The printer driver includes an option to print in gray scale as a substitution for color. If you choose to print a document that has a color other than black and white with only a black cartridge installed, I recommend you select the gray scale print option. To select gray scale, select the printer properties and check the box for gray scale rather than color printing. This selection can be made either at the time a document is ready to print (ie., a one time selection, using the "Properties" box in the print options window), OR as a permenant setting using the Control Panel, Printers, HP DeskJet 6122, "Properties" window. Once changed in the general printer properties, these settings remain active anytime the HP DeskJet 6122 printer is selected to print a document.

Can i substitute my color cartridge with a black cartridge. I am using a hp officejet D135. I may need to get a new printer but I can't test it because I am out of color ink and I don't want to buy one to...

No !!! First of all they are not the same size so the black cartridge most probably won't fit on the color slot, and if for any reason you need to print more with it, the black ink would have left its "mark" inside the color ink the injectors.

I have purchased several color cartridges this past week for my HP Officejet 85Xi and I keep getting the message to remove and check color cartridge. I do that and I've even cleaned it with a damp towel....

Did you remove the seal from the cartridges before you put them in? Double check each cartridge. Are these genuine HP cartridges? Many people believe you can substitute 3rd party cartridges or fill the original with brand X ink. My experience has been such that I will not waste my time with non-genuine cartridges.

When printing a photo has a yellow/green tint. All other functions work it prints and scans great. Just have a problem with printing photos.

Possibly it is running low on Blue ink - because colors are usually a mixture of inks - for example green is made from blue and yellow - if an ink runs low it will print the available colors or substitute the next available color.Probably if it prints green yellow - then it has no blue available to make the right shade.

Colors are not printing out true.

I replaced the Office Max ink substitute with an original Canon ink. This did not help. I decided this problem most probably had to be a printer head issue, so I gave up and bought a new printer instead.
