I also shut off the water for a week and now the icemaker does not dump ice. The water cold water spout does work, so there is water going through the line. I defrosted to see if ice had plugged the icemaker - no luck

Check to see if the line valve to the fridge is open. It should be at the nearest main water source (Kitchen sink)

Top ice maker in Samsung RFG298AAPN does not make ice. No water cycles into icemaker. Icemaker has been reset, nothing after 2 days. Should I replace the icemaker or the water valve.

On these models I've noticed that the temperature in the ice maker area warms up due to a ball of ice forming inside the freezer compartment ice maker fan that has vent going to the ice maker. Until it is found whether or not that ball of ice is blocking the vent and fan you won't be able to go to the next step. The switch on the ice maker will test the ice maker by filling it with water and rotating the Forks that dump the ice into the ice bin Appliance 911 Sea Breeze

Sink Cabinet Replacement Bottom

IF your sink cabinet bottom is water damaged and in need of a replacement, this video gives step-by-step how to information for fixing it. This video was created by a cabinet professional who specializes in fixing Formica kitchen cabinets.

It is very informative for the person who likes to do it yourself" when it comes to repairing things around the home.

Tools and materials needed:

Saber saw
Diagonal cutters
Hammer
New sink cabinet bottom
Caulking
Caulk gun
Clorox Bleach
Three Support Struts
L-brackets
Finish nails

How to do the Repair:

Take the doors of the kitchen or bathroom cabinet off.

Remove the water damaged sink bottom by cutting it in half from front to back. You may need to use the hammer at this point. Just be extremely careful to not damage the plumbing.

Break off the staples with the diagonal cutters.

Clean the mold with the Clorox Bleach.

Install the struts designed to support the new sink cabinet bottom. Use L-brackets if necessary for attaching the center piece.

Install the new sink cabinet bottom replacement board. Attach it with finish nails.

Clean the inside of the kitchen or bathroom vanity cabinet.

Caulk all interior areas of the sink cabinet bottom.

Replace the doors.

Every sink cabinet is built differently. Make sure to examine how the cupboard was built to determine the best method for replacing the bottom of the cabinet. If you have a center style, you will need to cut it out and reinstall it using L-brackets.

Cutting a new counter top for a sink

If you are installing a basic stainless steel sink into a laminate over particle board counter top-

Find the center of the sink along the legnth of the counter and mark the counter. Measure the sink from the top. Lay out the edges on the counter. Place the sink upside down on the counter and align with your marks. Trace around the sink in pencil. Subtract the distance to the flange where the clips slide in. Draw a new line inside the first one. This is your cut line. Check that when you make the cut that you will not hit the face frame of the cabinet. Move the sink back if needed and make new marks. Some cabinets are a tight fit. Cut the hole for the sink with a jigsaw. Start with the back line first. You may find on a counter with a back splash the jigsaw will not fit. Drill an 1/8" hole to mark the underside and cut from the bottom of the counter. Use a 1" spade bit to drill starter holes at the corners keeping away from the line you traced when the sink was upside down. Stay away from that line or you will have a hole the sink won't cover. Cut the front line. Drill a hole in the center of the counter you can put your finger in to catch the piece when it falls. Now cut the side lines while supporting the counter that is being removed. Discard the slug you removed.

Test fit the sink and remove any extra until the sink just drops in. Remove the sink and set it aside. You need at least 2 sink clips on each side of the sink but use 3 if you can get to them. Determine the location you want the clips at. Use the 3/4" spade bit to drill uot a pocket for the clips to go into. They will normally hit the bottom layer of particle board in the front and back. Center the bit horizontally 3/8" up from the underside of the counter. Drill your holes 1" deep. This is where the spring clip on your sink bolts will grab. You can test that the clips will fit then put a small beed of clear siliconized acrilic latex calk around the edge of the sink and install. Wipe up any extra squeeze out with a wet rag and then tighten the bolts and clean up again.

Now you are ready to install the plumbing. If you are using a new garbage disposer with the dish washer draining into it there is a small plastic disc you have to knock out before the dish washer can drain into the disposal. That plug is there to seal the disposer if you don't have a dish washer.

Get more help if you do not understand all the instructions. If you are pretty handy with mechanical things you should be able to get this done. If you have a different kind of sink please specify that and get more help.

Repairman made service call and checked out the frigidaire. Said everything was ok except there was a leak in the inside water filter housing unit, so he went ahead and bypassed the filter since we have...

The filter under the sink should have nothing to do with the water supply to the icemaker. The "repairman" probably cut off the icemaker water supply by "bypassing" the filter.

I am replacing my sink, medicine cabinet and adding a small cabinet below the sink. I need to know how to remove the old and install the new.

The task you are embarking on is a great DYI project. But, be forewarned, it can get tricky. First, make sure the new sink will fit in the space of the old sink. If not do you have enough space for the new sink to fit securely against the wall? Next, remove the cabinet. There should be about four screws. You may also have to use a razor to cut calking from around the outside of the cabinet. Sometimes it's used to fill-in gaps between the tile and cabinet. Remove the cabinet. If the cabinet is setting in the wall, make sure you check and see where the support beams are located. If you are not putting in another wall cabinet, then you will have to know what kind of wall you have. Sheet rock, no problem. Plaster requires a bit more work. Measure the hole, and then you will need chicken wire, lime, plaster, paint, and matching tile. Fasten the wire to beams in the wall. The wire will hold the plaster in place. Let dry, sand smooth then paint. If you have sheet rock walls measure the hole cut the sheet rock to fit. Fasten it to the beams, use plaster or Spackle to cover the holes from the screws. You will need sheet rock tape to hide the space between the existing wall and the sheet rock patch. Smooth on cover the tape with Spackle, smooth by sanding.

To remove the sink: first, turn off the main water supply. Get a pipe wrench and remove any connections. If you're not familiar with plumbing you may want to get a plumber to attach the connections.

Putting a cabinet under the sink is the easy part. Make sure you have the right size cabinet. Get a leveler; make sure the sink and cabinet are level. Depending on your walls, you can just screw the cabinet to the wall. If they are plaster walls you will need wall anchors. That should do it. Enjoy

Which water line or lines do I connect to refrigerator, model # ED22RFXW01, man. 08/99

It's advisable to go with flexible plastic tube with sweet water supply. Please follow the instrction as per video attached.

Even if your refrigerator comes withan automatic icemaker, you will need to connect it to a water supply for it tomake ice. While this is not a particularly difficult job it requires someknowledge of plumbing and the use of tools. ThingsYou'll Need:
  • Compression Nuts
  • Knife Or Scissors
  • T-valves
  • 1/4-inch Copper Or Plastic Tubes
  • Drill Bits
  • Variable-speed Drills
  • Drill Bits
Read theinstruction manual that came with your refrigerator. Specific instructions forhooking up the icemaker may be included. Locate thepipe nearest the icemaker that carries cold water. Most often, this is the coldwater pipe that connects to the kitchen sink. Install at-valve in the main cold water line - not on the 3/8-inch faucet tubes - sothat there are two outlets: one to the sink and one to the icemaker supplyline. Turn offthe water. Put asleeve and compression nut over the line that will supply the icemaker in orderto tightly connect it to the water line. Turn thewater back on, and, holding the end of the tubing in the sink or over a bucket, flush the line to remove any debris. Turn the water off again. Snake theline from the water source to the icemaker connection, drilling holes in thebacks of cabinets if you have to in order to push the line through. Find theicemaker inlet from the refrigerator and attach the other end of the line usinganother compression nut. Turn thewater back on. Throw awaythe first few containers of ice to be sure the line is completely clean beforeyou use the ice.

Roper Refrigerator - manufactured 12/99 - RT18DKXH W00

tata75,
Happy to assist you,

you said,
For the past three days, water has been leaking/freezing at an alarming rate. The freezer had about 2 inches of ice built up and the bottom of the refrigerator is holding water, too. Both crisper s were FULL of water. I don't know if the ice maker connection is broken or what. Looks like I have to cut off the cold water completely to the sink to get it to stop.

Sounds like the ice maker or its line is leaking the water to me. And obviously it will freeze in the freezer.

You need hands on service.
