Mitsubishi v-19 short protect

I've seen solutions to this problem for other models, but want to make sure it is the same for mine.
After unplugging my ws55909 before a lightning storm, I'm getting error 22 (short circuit protection). Ironic. It was working fine before and this is what happens when you're cautious. I Should've left it plugged in!
The only other thing that has happened before is that occasionally the convergence won't load at power on and be wayyy out. Shutting down and turning back on always fixed this. One time, it didn't and I re-set the grid and convergence from the service menu. Don't know if this has anything to do with my current problem.
From what I've read, the DM board is to blame? Another forum breifly stated that only malfunctioning low voltage supply will cause error 22. I have the service manual, but like others have said, it doesn't even tell you where to start troubleshooting with this problem.
-- Thanks --

Yes, F9A04 and F9A05 were open. Tried glass fuses of the same value (125V 5A) to see if they would blow right away and F9A04 did. Now that thats out of the way, what do you suggest from here. Convergence out amp is an IC-- just order a new one and hope it works?

Just to narrow things down more-- the V-Defl would not be suspect as it uses only +24v, and both + and - 24v fuses were blown, right?

    Thanks again for the help.

    Follow up...

Absolutely excellent!!!! Convergence IC was the problem. Both +24 and -24 volt fuses were blown (they look like green resistors). The only circuit that uses both + and - 24 volt is the convergence amp IC (As shown in the service manual). I ordered one from Slinteriors' online store for just about 26 bucks and received it promptly. After soldering in the new IC and fuses, the TV works perfect. I didn't even have to re-align the convergence.

This kind of problem could have cost upwards of $800 for a typical sheisty TV repairman to fix not to mention the time involved with trips of bringing boards to and from his shop. And since the power board is considered non-replaceable, fixing it is the only option. From what I've heard others say, I really don't think most service guys could troubleshoot and fix something like this.

26 bucks and a few hours of time on the weekend. I couldnt be happier. THANKS SLINTERIORS!!!!

I would suspect that the convergence ICs are bad. You can get replacement ICs at the following link.

My Mitsubishi WS-65809 turns on and then off after 4 seconds. I have pressed the input/enter together and got 2 and then 4 blinks. What do I need to do to fix it?

First to be sure, unplug the set from power and then plug back--this clears the error buffer. Repeat the self check:

PRESS AND HOLD "device"(input) and "menu" buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

As you can see 2,4 is vertical problem----might want to remove speaker grill, inspection plate behind it and look up front--vertical is on middle board at right front as seen from front of set.

Look for ANY tiny drops of clear liquid which damages parts and is toxic-----glycol is what I would look for first.

19 inch slyvania tv/dvd combo turn on play button stays on and the the tv goes to red green yellow and blue screen and won't do anything else

I have been having just about the same problem with mine, i can watch the tv for about 20 min and then the dvd player comes on by itself then it goes to red, green, yellow, and black and white, i've tried resetting the dvd player to default but it hasn't helped mine. When i try to turn it off it automaticly comes back on so i have to unplug it.If i find a way to make mine work right i will send you a message to let you know so you can try it on yours. I've had mine just over a year and i don't have a warrenty anymore.

I am getting a code 2-2 on my mitsubishi tv model ws-65807. I have unplugged the tv and simulated the problem twice. I seen that you have step by step instruction for the problem, can you please email me...

I cannot e-mail you. But I can help you here the 22 error code on this set means "short protect circuit failure". Simply put, you have a shorted component , most likely in the power supply section of the tv, a diode, a voltage regulator IC, fuse has shorted itself. Diodes and fuses are easy to test but thats not the same case with the ICs. If you are skilled in working on electronic circuits and know how to solder, let me know and I will help you resolve this problem.

Mitsubishi model # wt-4609 .. won't come on... error code blinks two times pauses then two more

This is error code for short protection--95% of the time in this model it means one of the soldered in fuses that protect the convergence circuit is blown.

Both convergence chips and the blown fuse or fuses need to be located and replaced----if you give me the full correct model number I will tell you which parts it uses.

Some people are able to do this repair themselves--depending on model number you would begin by unplugging the set and testing the fuses for the convergence circuit--if either or both are bad the chips for the convergence circuit got them--just changing the fuse will do no good--and can do more harm.

Let me know model number ---wt- and 5 numbers usually

Mitsubishi v-19 short protect

My suggestion based on past repair''s of these kinds of problems is replace the TV with a new LCD and live happily ever after, don't waste your money, a year from now something else will fail, this is for sure.

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source.
