The first thing would be to remove it and reinsert the cartridge.
If it continues to not recognize it, try inserting a different brand new cartridge. If that cartridge is also not recognized, the connection between the cartridge and the printer is not happening. Typically printers do not cost enough to justify the expense involved in having a technician repair the unit. In other words, if you try installing two brand new cartridges and they both fail - it is the printer side of the connection that is bad.

I have an iMac coupled to a Canon MP600 Pixma all in 1 unit. I recently updated my iMac to Snow Leopard, and have since found that I am unable to use the scanner part of the machine. (Printer & copier no problem) Before the update I could select scan and the machine would run & deposit the scanned document into s folder for processing. Now all I get is a sign that says "Scanner warm up process" and that's it. Could you please give me some advice what to do. I use the scanner quite a bit and am now stuck. Many thanks

My lexmark x1150 has been working for several years, now it won's scan. It wil print, but not scan. I have unplugged the power and the usb and changed the usb port, uninstalled, re-installed, re-started the computer and it still will not scan.
