This means your inverter (back light) component is bad or going bad. It needs replacing. Not sure what they go for but I was told by someone they run for about $20.00 . Once your replace the inverter, your monitor will work like new again.

Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.
