Question about Sony VRD-VC10 DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner

VRD-VC10 says "format mismatch"

I am trying to record from a video recording device onto a DVD via the VRD-VC10. Each time I press record, the display stays "Ready" for a moment, then declares, "Format Mismatch." I have tried different DVDs, SYNC and non-SYNC modes; nothing seems to work. How can I fix this problem?

I can try DVD-R, but I was told, and the manual says, that it works only with DVD+R or DVD+RW. Will DVD-R damage the recorder in any way? Additionally, the manual lists nothing about the message "Format Mismatch." Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Check the manual - some DVD recorders could only handle certain brands of disks, and most will not handle Dual Layer types. Try Sony brand DVD-R disks (4.7G)

Is it possible to copy 3 short Hi-8 tapes onto one DVD+R disc?

Yes...First chose the appropriate Record Quality based on the total length of all 3 videos you want to transfer. Next using a RCA component cable, connect the Yellow, Red and White from the Hi-8 camcorder to the DVDirect RCA inputs. After each tape has finished, just press the red record button...Press it again when the next tape your want to record begins. When all are done prrss the stop button (small button above the record button) and finalize as normal.

Motorola VIP1216 DVR and Sony VRD-MC5 Connections for Recording?

I have the same problem currently. I have successfully recorded to the Sony CM5 in the past from my DVR, but no longer can. I have Comcast and wonder if they have changed the DVR firmware and blocked output. Also some broadcasts have something in the signal to stop recording. I got half of my program done, and can't record the rest on DVD. I will try to DVR local news, then record to the Sony, to see if it's a signal issue or something with the Sony. I haven't tried to record from a VCR.

"Invalid Video Found" HDR-CX7 and VRD-MC5 DVD Recorder

The same happend to me. The camera contains informations of videofiles, which are no more present on the camera (were deleted from a computer). You are not able to record in full disk mode, or any other mode, which includes these videos. These missing files can be easily recognised, as the camcorder is not able to play them. Try to get rid of these "files", or ommit them from the recording list.

Burn dvd from vhs

i'm assuming you have a vcr to play your vhs tapes, just plug your audio/video cord from your vcr(out), plug into the audio/video vc10(in), start playing vcr and press rec botton whenever you want to start to record. make sure you can only use dvd+r. choose the quality for the length of time, at the end press 'function' to finalize the disc, then you are done.

Waiting for input signal

It's a protected video. The VRD-MC5 will not burn a VHS or input that has been protected.

Sony vrd-vc10 drive door

Davidxjohn
Right on the drive you will find a small hole, take a pin and press it a little bit, it will open up the DVD tray for you. Sometimes the drives are just locked by some software, this is the best way to release your stuck cd or dvd.

Hope that helped!

Setup Nero for CD recording mode, not DVD. The software does not change automatically.
