Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook

Hp help well this guy gave me some help telling me to take out my memory chips this is what he said This could be a couple of things. Start by checking the memory. Make sure they are seated properly and didn't slide or shift a bit in the fall or the sudden stop at the end of the fall. Then remove the memory and try them one at a time. A bad memory chip is the number one cause of this. If it still won't start, then I'm afraid that you may have damaged the motherboard. HP seemingly has the most fragile motherboard on the market. I've had two HP laptops through my shop this year that were dropped, one while walking through the house on carpet, and the other from the sofa cushion to a carpeted floor. Both had hairline fractures in the motherboard, both ran for a period of time until they heated up a bit and the motherboard expanded, opening the crack. One would continue to run if you let it cool overnight, but then would stop again after heating up. The hairline fractures could be seen when holding the motherboard up to a bright light. If the memory checks good, then you may want to take it in for a professional diagnostic, they will be able to tell you whether it's the board or a replaceable component. and he also gave me this link on how to do this http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00771894.pdf if this helps please contact me because i only took out one not both because i was afraid i mess it up but he said removing the momory chips wont do anything

Compaq Presario CQ62 faulty BIOS or not!?

Your computer will not start up with out a BIOS working, it starts the hard drive and loads the operating system.

The CMOS memory stores parameters which are updated by the operating system. Hence it needs a battery to keep the parameters. It also needs the operating system to make any necessary changes to start up again.

I do not know your full model number, but this utility will check if your pc is bootable.

Slow start up and beeps a couple of times

The beep pattern tells you what is wrong. Search Google for the exact pattern...ie 2 short beeps, 2 long beeps, etc. Could be bad RAM chip or bad motherboard or video card, etc. The beep pattern will tell you what needs to be fixed.

I have an all white screen when I. start my computer

From the descrition this is a motherboard problem, Hp is well known for issues of this sort. Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture okay! there is a problem with the new screen. But if both show the same symptoms it is the Video Graphics Card normally built into the motherboard. If that is the case a motherboard replacement will be expensive.

As i was upgrading my bios, the power went off, after restarting no display, what can i do? my laptop is hp compaq nc6400

The machine will not start again until a new bios chip is installed or the
board is replaced.
On a desktop a procedure called "hot flashing" can be done but not on a
laptop unless you have the proper equipment and know-how.
Hot flashing is where you get and identical bios chip and replace the one on
the board. After the system is started you pull the chip will the system is on and
replace it with the bad flashed chip. Then you do a regular bios flash upgrade. The key is you
need an identical bios chip to start the process. On a laptop you need either and a identical
chip or the ability to write to the bad chip. Oh and I forgot to mention you need the equipment
to take the board out of the laptop case and get it running
One of two things needs to be done:

1) Replace the motherboard

2) Find someone who knows what they are doing and remove the chip and
reprogram it. You should be able to find one of these guys under Google.

Can sumone plz tell me wen i start my hp compaq nc6000 orange light come n thn shut down it dont boot bt after many time it get started n after sumtime the screen disapear plz tell me whats this problem

if you press on the top right corner near the pg up button on my set, it boots up fine but release the pressure and the screen goes blank but LED and HDD still hums. I got a guy to resolder the Maxim power regulator chip (BGA) on underside of the mobo. Now the set works fine. seems that opening and closing of the lid causes pressure and flex on the mobo and that in turn causes the BGA to "crack a lead". Only problem is locating the guy with the right tools to do it in your area. Got mine fixed on a recent trip to China

Memory chip

i dont wish to upset you or anything like that, but remove and reinstall the memory chip ? memory refers to RAM, RAM is only removed and replaced if either faulty or more is installed.

The RAM is easily reachable, turn the laptop upside down, remove the power and the battery.

Hp help

I understand the whole parent thing, it was my mother I was always concerned with. Touching the memory chips won't effect them at all. They are located under a panel on the bottom of the machine. Here's a link for replacing the memory. The diagram isn't the best, but it will give you an idea. Don't forget to give me a good rating. Thanks and good luck!!!

My computer won't start at all

There is a couple of things that it could be. Could be a battery issue. Try starting it without the battery, just AC. Could be a bad memory chip. Try removing the memory and starting it. If these don't work then it's the power management chip on the motherboard. You'll have to replace the motherboard.

Dell Latitude c610 wont turn on

It could be one of two things, Memory or system board. Try and switch the memory chips around. If you have one memory chip, try the other slot. If you have two chips, try just one chip. If you don't have any luck with that, replace the memory chip. If no luck with that, you'll need a new system board. EBAY would be your best bet to get one.
