My fuji finepix S2 pro has started taking pictures that are very dark and lack any real colour. They seem to be slightly purple tinted when an image does appear, with blurred lines running through them, as if I was moving the camera up and down when I take the picture. Most of the pictures are just black and you can't detect anything in the image. Have I just put some odd setting on or is it a physical fault with the camera?

Could be a white balance setting or you've accidentally engaged a digital filter. You could try a camera reset. Go into the setup menu and scroll to "reset". This will take you back to the default settings.
You might be able to compensate for the flash from within the camera, under lighting. I've already found that setting it for fluorescent while using tungston works well, depending on what main colors you are shooting. Reflectivity can really change a final product.
Could be CCD Failure ... known as ' Black Screen of Death'.
Have CCD cleaned at a reputable camera (not chain) shop and they'll test it.
Fuji were replacing units suffering this problem at one stage.
Recently my Fuji S20 pro pictures started to look like purple and green blurred water colour images. Sometimes there is horizontal lines in the pics. like when your printer stars to get low on toner. I called customer service. They said to send it in. My cost. They will send an estimate if I want it fixed i pay. If I do not and want it back they will charge me $25 to get it back. Or they will keep it and recycle it. How kind of them!!!
Recently this happened to me just as I was walking in a church to shoot a wedding (major bummer). I had to rush and get my film backup for this. Anyway, this problem has ocurred with several examples of the S2 pro including mine, one other than mine that I know personally. The problem is the sensor. I quickly shipped to Fuji and they fixed the problem. I just got my camera back and so far it is working fine. Time will tell. I had to pay for the shipping only and turnaround was quick (1 week). By the way the camera was already out of warranty, but they gave a 3 month warranty after the repair.
