You need to contact Sony! The firmware has been erased and it will not function untill there is a full version of firmware on the bios chip. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

Can i myself fix error 80010514 on ps3

Well this is an interesting one; error code 80010514 implies a faulty installation of your firmware.

If you can still access it, try running the System Update (XMB > Settings > System Update).

If the update didn't work, you should backup the data on your PS3 using the Backup Utility (XMB > Settings > System Settings > Backup Utility). What we're going to do to WILL delete the data on your hard drive, so if you don't back it up it'll be gone forever.

Once it's backed up, turn off the console and start it up in
Safe Mode. This link will show you how to access it. Start at option 2 and work your way down through 5. Each option will delete more and more data; option 5 wipes the whole hard drive, thus why we backed up your data.

I'm fairly confident that by using Safe Mode you'll be able to fix your PS3. But if it doesn't work, there's always the option to send your PS3 back to Sony. It'll cost 150$ if you're not under warranty, and you won't see your PS3 for a month or two, but they should be able to fix it. Here's a link to the Service Request page.

Best of luck!

Tip

Setting up and using PS3

Setting Up
Getting your PS3 connected is about as simple as can be, and getting started once you boot your system up is quick and painless.

Connect Your System
There's really not much to it,especially if you have a newer TV. In fact, it's so easy that if takes just four steps!
1. If you are using an HDMI cable, connect one end into the back of your PS3and the other end into the HDMI port on your TV.
2. Plug the power cord into the back of the PS3 and then into a surge protector(recommended) or wall socket.
3. Connect a USB cable to the back of your Dual shock 3 controller and plug the other end into the USB slot in the front of the PS3.
4. Press the power button near the disc drive (or flick the power switch on the back of the old PS3 and then the power button).
5. Bonus step: Sit back and enjoy your PS3!

Create a User.
The first time you boot up your PS3,you'll be prompted to create a user profile. This profile is used to store settings and can be linked to a free online PlayStation account. You can create multiple profiles on your PS3 and your online name can be different than your user profile. In other words, don't worry too much about the name you choose. The Xross Media Bar. After you've created a profile, you're dropped into the PS3's main menu, known as the Xross Media Bar (XMB).This can be a bit intimidating at first and even a bit difficult to find what you're looking for. If you don't know how to start playing a game, watch a Blu-ray disc, or turn on parental controls, this will guide you. Once you get the hang of the Xross Media Bar, you'll have no trouble getting the most out of your PS3.

Using the PlayStation 3
When you turn on your PS3, the menu interface, called the Xross Media Bar (XMB), can be intimidating. It's not as challenging as it might seem at first. So take a deep breath and read on as we guide you through every important feature and function of your PS3.

Get the Latest Update.
Most likely, when you first connect online you'll be asked to update your system. Every few weeks, Sony releases a required system update. You can download this, which will take a few minutes.Have patience and follow the instructions on screen. System updates are a necessary evil. They take some time, but ultimately they improve the functionality of your PS3.

Parental Controls.
If you're a parent here's what you need to do to restrict the type of content available on a PS3. Scroll left on the XMB to "Settings". Then scroll down to "Security Settings". Create a password (so your kids can't change the settings without your permission) and then select the acceptable content level of Blu-ray, DVD, games and Internet browsing. Introducing the Xross Media Bar. The XMB offers quick navigation if you know what you're looking for. The main bar of the XMB has a series of categories you can scroll through by pressing left or right on the D-Pad of the controller. Each category expands into a variety of options, which can be viewed by pressing up or down on the D-Pad.Go through the most important parts of the XMB, but here's a full list of categories, from right to left:Friends, PlayStation Network, Network, Game, Video, Music, Photo, Settings, and Users.

Friends
Once you've set up a free online account (see the PlayStation Network section for more), anyone in your friends list will appear here. You can add friends, message the ones you already have,or just check out what game they're playing.

PlayStation Network
Sign in to your PSN account and you gain some cool options here. You can change your avatar, browse the PlayStation Store, or take a trip to PlayStation Home.

Changing Your Avatar
Nothing could be simpler than changing your avatar. Select "Account Management" and then"Account Information." Scroll down and select "Avatar" from the menu. Now you can pick an avatar that represents you best. There are also premium avatars, which can be purchased on the PlayStation Store.

Let's Go Shopping!
The PlayStation Store is a robust online shopping destination with full retail games, downloadable games, game add-ons, demos, PSP games, themes, avatars, movies, and TV shows.Game add-ons, in case you were wondering, are supplemental content for games you already own, but are not playable on their own. These can be new missions, multi-player maps, or even in-game items. The store is pretty self-explanatory and easy to navigate. The store uses real cash (as opposed to"points") and works a lot like Amazon.com. When you find something you like, add it to your cart, and then purchase everything at checkout.

Going Home
PlayStation Home is a free online community where you walk around a virtual city. You get your own house to decorate, can interact with other players, have a number of free games to play and can even watch movies in a digital theater.

Network
There are two reasons to use this tab. First, you can search the Internet on your TV using your PS3. You can even plug a USB keyboard and mouse into the front of your PS3 to make it easier.More interesting than Web browsing is the ability to play certain PS3 games on your PSP. Remote Play allows you to connect to your PS3 via your PSP and access certain games. This is a great way to experience your favorite titles when on the road.

Game
Here's where you find your games. If you've inserted a PS3 disc, you'll see a disc icon. Click it to launch the game. Downloaded games show up here as well, allowing you to easily scroll through your entire library.Collect

Trophies
You can also check out your Trophy collection. Trophies are virtual rewards, given for completing certain tasks in games. There are four levels of Trophies: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Most Trophy types are based on the difficulty of the challenge, but Platinum is awarded when you collect all of the other Trophies in a game. Each Trophy you earn increases your overall PSN Level and improves your bragging rights. Trophies are stored on Sony's servers, meaning that no matter which PlayStation you log in on, you can retrieve and display your full set of Trophies.

Video
Similar to the Game tab, Video is where all of your movies are stored. If you put a DVD or Blu-ray disc in your PS3, you'll find an icon here. Click it to launch your movie.

Music
Any music tracks on your PS3 are listed here. You can listen to tunes whenever you like and can even create playlists. It's easy enough to create a playlist. Select "Playlist"from the XMB, then "Add a Playlist". After naming your playlist, press the Triangle button to "Edit" the list. You can then copy any tracks on your PS3 to your playlist.

Photo
It should be obvious what is going to show here. Yep, it's all the photos stored on your PS3. Just like music tracks, you can create a custom playlist (so you can have a custom PS3 slideshow).

Settings
This is perhaps the most important section of the XMB. The PS3 has an incredible number of settings that you can access to enhance your experience. It's far too detailed for us to explain each and every setting, but let's take a look at a few important settings.

Optimize for Blu-ray
If you're going to watch Blu-ray movies on your PS3, then you absolutely must follow these detailed guide. This will get Blu-ray movies looking as good as possible on your TV.

Change Your Theme
The Theme setting allows you to select from a variety of backgrounds for your PS3. There are plenty of free and premium themes you can purchase on the PlayStation Store.

Users
You can log into a different user profile here or create a brand new one. Create as many as you likemike_alozie.jpg. Not sure why you would need a dozen user profiles, but knock yourself out!

Games/movies won't play

Start small; check the game/movie disc/discs. Can you confirm that the disc works? (Try it in another PS3, for example). Are you putting the discs in facing the right way?

Next restart the PS3. Then shut down the PS3, unplug it from the outlet then plug it back in.

No progress? Make sure your system is updated. Who knows, maybe it's a firmware thing. Go to XMB > Settings > System Update and run it.

Still nothing? Okay, are the game's not being detected at all, or are they not playing (as in, it shows up but when you start it the screen blacks out). If it's the screen thing, let's try resetting the video settings. Turn off the PS3, then press and hold the power button (as if to turn it on) until it beeps. The video settings will be reset. You can re-set them to your preferences by going to XMB > Settings > Display Settings > Video Output Settings.

Problems? Still? Jeez. Now we get technical. First I would suggest backing up your data, as things can and will get deleted in the next couple of suggestions. Use the Backup Utility (XMB > Settings > System Settings > Backup Utility) to store everything. You can then restore all your data later on.

With your data backed up, try the different options in Safe Mode. This link will show you how to access it. Try options 2, 3, 4 and 5, in that order, and see if it's reading discs in between each one. Anything after 2 will delete your data; thus the need to make a backup.

Still no luck? Unfortunately you're probably going to have to send your console in for repair (hardware problems). Sony provides a form on their website to request a repair; here's a link. If you're under warranty it's free; otherwise it's expensive (150$ I believe). The worst part about this option is they take forever; you won't see your console again (or it's replacement) for at least a month, more likely two.

Good luck!

PS3 wont start up properly

Have you performed any updates recently? If so, then if a friend of yours has a known working ps3, or if you want to buy one for a backup, see if you can swap hdds for a test. It won't ruin theirs, it's just a test to see if it might have been an update. If it works fine, and you have two sata connectors on your PC's motherboard, then you can format yours with MSDOS on the command prompt and copying your friends files over to yours. You will have to completely format your drive to remove any and all corrupted files. Here's one I found on Ebay
