Hi gooby,

Video card - reseat card and boot to see if fixed or has gone bad. If your video card is integrated, then the system board needs replacing.

Monitor screen - need to replace.

One thing you can try is to re-install the video drivers. If this does not work, then the only thing that can be done is replacing the parts formentioned.

Compaq laptop green pink screen pixalted

One of the things is to hook it to another monitor and see if that still happens. If it does not then it is most likely the screen on the laptop. Not to worry though it could be the cable that connects the laptop motherboard to the screen. When you open and close the lid, it flexes the cable and the little wires in can break. The cable is not cheap though. One way to test this is to change how far the lid opens by flexing it open and closed to see if the screen changes. If it does then it is that cable.

I have a 21 inch crt Monitor. It works fine in all other rooms except mine. In my room the display rolls upwards from the instant it is switched on. Please guide me as to what is causing this vertical...

This is usually caused by electrostatic affect from the environment. Make sure there's no other objects like Speaker (woofer) beside the monitor, below or above, behind or front. Try by turning it to different direction. I hope this will solve your problem. Good luck..

Blank screen

Try plugging the laptop into an external monitor to make sure the laptop is booting up properly. If it is unplug the monitor from the laptop; or if you know the laptop boots up fine and you get the windows audio when it boots and the initial starting beeps then forget the monitor. Shine a torch or light source on the screen and if you see a faint picture then the inverter on the screen has developed a fault.

Hi Jules;
you may want to try your laptop on another monitor, just to check if its your laptop having a problem or your screen having a problem. Your laptop has a VGA port at the back, you can attach the monitor into it and press Fn+ ( CRT monitor icon )
