From the description of the image, it sounds like the LCD screen is damaged, possible from an impact. Can you see any crackes on the glass/screen?
Looks like you need to buy a new LCD screen.
The front glass is just a protector for the LCD screen. If your TV turns on and the picture looks ok (may be a little color variation around the crack if front glass is pushing on it, variation OK black Bad) If the picture looks within the range described then replace the glass. It is just a piece of standard glass and a pretty easy diy job. If the LCD screen is broken the repair will be more than the replacement cost. Sad fact US TV repairmen make a living wage while the workers that assembled you TV wouldn't be able to buy lunch here with what they made putting it together.
The LCD screens are built with a over-cover of a plastic film and the LCD is inside the cover. Any damage on the LCD glass will not be felt physically on the outside of the screen. So, chances are your LCD is cracked if you find a spider web or a liquid spill effect visible.
It can be repaired, but only by replacing the LCD panel. The glass in the panel has conductors "etched" into the surface. Break the glass, break the connection. You will probably discover it is cheaper to buy a new TV than to pay to have the panel replaced. If this answered your question, be sure to rate it. Thanks and sorry about your luck.
Sounds like you have a bad backlight,
the backlight shines light through the translucent LCD layers to give you your picture in the same way you hold slides up to the light
Sounds like you have damaged the LCD. The LCD is made of 2 sheets of glass and then there is a liquid between the sheets that carry light. Sometimes the glass can crack and the liquid will leak or bleed and then the unit needs a replacement LCD. An impact can crack the glass, dropping it or freezing the unit. A damaged LCD is common because they are so small and thin you cant push on them.
A used LCD runs about $40. labor may be a bit more if this is the problem. People buy broken cameras on e-bay it maybe cheaper to get a different unit. If its under warantee you may be able to sxchange it.
On the bottom of your camera there is an A/V port you can hook the unit to a tv. To verify the screen is damaged hook it to a tv and see if you can see an image on the tv in record or review mode and see if the LCD and the tv view are the same. You could still use it if the LCD is damaged but you will need another way to view the menu. I have done this
