Question about Hoover F7220900 SteamVac V2 Upright Vacuum

Square hole will not turn on my Hoover F7210-900

You said the turbine is either clogged up or the turbine has gone bad. When I turn the machine on without the brushes the square hole will not turn. How do I go about checking the turbine? Any place on the internet I can go to to see a manual on how to replace the turbine? I have searched but have not been able to find anything.

I have the f7220900 I removed the turbine took it apart and it was clean and spins freely. I reinstalled it and still nothing. I noticed two black rubber hoses going to each side of the turbine attached to 2 solenoids. I ran the unit but could not feel any vacuum or air flow. Any suggestions?

You have to take the top cover off, turn unit over and from the bottom, remove the screws, 2 of them will be long, they hold the turbine down. Turn it back over and removethe cover. There 2 more screws at the front of the turbine (#23 and the hoses attached to it. Then it will come off.

Were can i find the belt on a hoover steamvac spinscrub the wheels quit spinning on it

There is no belt on the Hoover SpinScrub. The brushes are turned by an air driven turbine. To test the turbine, insert a flat screwdriver into the square hole that the pin on the brush assembly normally fits into, and see if the fitting turns. If it doesn't turn, the turbine has seized up and will need to be replaced.

Brushes on bottom of hoover rug cleaner not spinning

The most common reason for this is that the air driven turbine has failed. To test it, insert a screwdriver into the square hole that the brush pin normally fits into and see if it turns. If it does not turn, the turbine assembly will need to be replaced. To prevent failure in the future, always store the shampooer with the upper tank removed, and squeeze the trigger to thoroughly empty the soap solution from the machine.

The brushes on my hoover f7411-900 carpet cleaner will not turn. any ideas? thanks, Hank

The most common reason for this is that the air driven turbine that turns the brush has seized up. To test it, remove the brush and insert a flat screwdriver into the square hole that the pin on the brush normally fits into. If you can't turn the fitting with the hole in it, the turbine assembly will need to be replaced. ( part # 91001019 ) - msrp $19.99. Be sure the square pin has not broken off from the brush assembly, as this is another possibility.

Brushes don;t spin

First remember that the speed switch must be set to carpet. The handle must also be tipped back. If this is not the problem, you probably have a bad turbine assembly. Remove the brush assembly and insert a flat screwdriver into the square hole that the pin on the brush fits into, and see if it turns. There will be some resistance. If it is seized up, the turbine unit must be replaced. To prevent rust damage to the turbine, always remove the upper tank during storage, and squeeze the trigger to drain fluid from the machine.

Brushes won't spin

First, please be sure to unplug your Steam Vac and remove both the clean water and the dirty water tank.
There should be a square stem that sticks up in the center of your brush assembly. If this stem is broken you will need to replace the complete brush assembly. If the stem is good; turn your cleaner on it's side and check in the area where the brush assembly goes (with the brush assembly removed). In the center of this area there is a square hole where the stem from the brush assembly goes. The square hole is in the bottom of the turbnie that spins your brushes. Using a large flat blade screw driver (not so large that you'll damage the hole), stick it in to the square hole and try to spin it. It should spin freely, if it is very hard to spin or won't spin at all, your turbine is bad and will need to be replaced.

Scrub brushes not rotating

Hi There,

You'll need to first diagnosis why these brushes are not spinning. When the SpinScrub brushes on a Hoover SteamVac don't spin, this can be 1 of 3 different things.

In order to diagnosis which one of the problems is causing your problem, here's what you'll need to do.

Step 1. The first and easiest thing you should check is to make sure that that the brush speeed selector knob on the top of the machine is turned on, and is not in the off position. This may sound obvious, but I've had several cutsomers that have come in with this exact problem, only for the brushes to be turned off. Also make sure that the SteamVac's handle is reclined, and not in the upright position. There's a switch inside that shuts the brushes off when the SteamVac is moved into the upright position. If the brushes still are not spinning, move on to step 2.

Step 2. You'll need to remove the SpinScrub brushes from the SteamVac. Turn the machine upside down so that the brushes are facing upwards. There are four clips that hold these brushes in place. You'll need to remove the brushes from the machine by squeezing the four tabs while pulling upwards at the same time. The picture actually only shows the two tabs on the right hand side being squeezed (my left hand was holding the camera, lol), but the tabs on the left hand side are in the exact same location:

Step 3. Once the brushes have been removed, plug the machine in, make sure that the handle is reclined. Look in the SteamVac where the brushes used to be. You should see a hole that is square shaped where the brushes go into.

Turn the machine on, and look to see if this square shaped hole is spinning. If the hole is spinning, this indicates that either the brush block itself is bad, or there maybe something clogged (such as pet hair) in the brushes that's preventing them from spinning. If the square hole is not spinning, this indicates that your internal turbine brush gear has gone bad. Here's a link to a repair that I've written on how to replace the internal brush turbine gear if the square shaped, female receptacle hole is not spinning.

If the square shaped hole is spinning, here's what you may do to see if the brush block is just jammed up with debris, or if the brush block itself is bad and needs to be replaced:

Step 1. I'd say that 60% of the time that I see this problem, the main issue is that the brushes just need to be cleaned. If you have pets in the home, a lot of the time the pet hair will just be lodged inside the brushes, will prevent them from spinning. Use a pressurized water hose with spray nozzle is ideal) and spray each brush with water to dislodge any pet hair. You should be able to get these brushes spinning when you spray them. Spray each brush until the brushes are spinning pretty fast. Re-insert the brushes into the machine, and test to see if the cleaning has fixed your problem.

you should look at the brush stem that goes into the turbine inside the machine. This is the green pole pictured in middle of the brush block. Examine this pole to determine if the top of it has broken off. It should exactly how the picture shows it. Make sure that the plastic has not broken. If the pole has broken, you will simply need to replace the brush block.

It can really only be one of these three things that are causing your brushes not turn. Here are links to all of the products that possibly need to purchased (if the brushes weren't just clogged) on our website for the model that you listed this repair under, the Hoover F7425-900.

The brushes will not turn on my up right hoover stean vac

Take out the brush block, check to see if the shaft is on it or broken off, if broken off, replace the brush block. If it is ok, then turn it on and see if the square hole is turning, if not then the turbine is bad. The turbine is what drives the brushes. If the little screen filter is clogged, and if the foam filter on inside of the recovery tank lid is all of the way up, pull it down leaving at least a 1/4 in. gap from the top. These 2 filters can cause odd problems.

Brushes not working

Check the filter from the bottom, it has a red frame, pull it out far enough to clean it, if it is clooged, then the brushes won't spin. If it is clean, pull the brush block out, make sure the shaft that goes up into the turbine is not brokked off, if it is replace thebrush block. With the brush block out, turn on the machine and look up where the brush block goes, there is a square hole, if it is turning, then it is ok, if not, then the turbine is either clogged up or the turbine has gone bad.

Belt replacement Hoover carpet cleaner

Hoover steamvacs don't use belts. If the brushes are not turning, pull the brush block out, turn the machine on and see if the square hole where the brush block was, is turning. If not then the turbine is bad. Sometimes you can take the turbine apart and clean it out. most times I have found , replace it.

Hoover steam vac model 7210-900

Did you clean both filters? There is one on the tank and the other is from the bottom, it ha a red frame, pull it out to clean. Pull the brush block out, is the shaft that goes up into the machine broken off? If so replace the brush block. While it is out, trn the machine on and see if the square hole up where the brush block goes, is turning. If not then the turbine has gone bad. You can sometimes clean the turbine out, otherwise replacing it may be the best option.
