My TomTom 720 (about one year old) worked perfectly until I recently upgraded to the new software version, since then the map screen keeps jumping to the main menu screen - I contacted the support people and they advised doing a reset, then clearing the flash memory with their download and finally re-installing the application all to no avail - I'm now awaiting their next suggestion.

I have the same problem. Worked fine until a software upgrade and then keeps jumping to main menu. If I press the done button it will only sometime change back when it feels like it. I have also noticed when pressing the keys they are very unresponsive and often when trying to type a post code the tomtom decides to backspace or put a - or ^ character in. It's driving me mad so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same problem... I tend to believe the overheating theory. My unit begins jumping to the main menu screen after 1hr or so of being powered on the dash board. It behaves exactly as if you touched the screen to access the main menu. I contacted TomTom and they suggested I try the 3x flash clear procedure. I have my doubts it will solve the problem.

I have the same problem, spoke to TomTom and they told me to do a hard reset and clear the flash mem. I did this and it worked for a day. All started when i did an update. I have given up with the thing now.

Well I finally figured it out for those who might run across this problem.

It seems that when it got hot and expanded the grey bezel around the screen would touch the screen just enough to activate it. I gently pried the bezel up just a bit and it seems to have solved the problem.

Keep your Tom Tom out of direct sunshine...when mine gets too hot it throws a "wobbley" and everything goes haywire.
I now keep it shaded at all times.

Hi,

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

HOW DO I PAIR MY 720 WITH A SANYO CELL PHONE?

First, go to the Tom Tom menu and switch on the bluetooth feature. Then, in your phones menu, activate the bluetooth feature and search "new devices". when the phone find the TomTom it will ask for a code. This is usually the numver zero, 4 times i.e. 0000
follow the phone's instructions from there. Hope this helps

Tom tom 710

I am STILL trying to download the latest Wester Europe Maps to my Go 700. But I have found this answer to your question. Any tips on how I down load the v7.20 to my TomTom? good luck.

When navigating to a location in the UK or The Netherlands you should be able to enter full digit postcodes.
If you are only able to enter 4 digits, follow the instructions below.

  1. Download the file below and save it to your computer.

    downloadbutton.gif wezipcodes715.zip (10.5 MB)

  2. Extract the contents of the downloaded file to your desktop (on PC right-click the downloaded file and select Extract to).

You will now have a folder called 'zip' on your desktop.

  3. Connect your TomTom device to your computer.

  4. If you are using a PC click Start > My Computer and double-click the icon for your TomTom device.

If you are using a Mac click the icon for your TomTom device on your desktop.

  5. Copy the complete 'zip' folder to your TomTom device.

Note: The 'zip' folder should be copied to the 'root' of your TomTom device. This means not inside one of the folders.

Go support on official TomTom site. Entery your product then search tech support for 'postcode search'. One of the FAQ returned is exactly your problem (full postcode search in UK or Netherlands). Download file and follow instructions.
