Waste ink absorber full

I've removed the sponges. Cleaned them out, dried them out completely and replaced them. I still get the warning signs. I then tried to reset the ink counter. I still get the warning sign that the waste ink absorber is full. Please help!

Pixma MP150 Waste ink absorber is almost full.

Hi,

I had a similar issue recently with an Epson printer. I solved it by unplugging all cables and removing the outer casing (there were several screws, easily removed with a philips head screwdriver). You can then get at the waste ink sponges. Caution - wear gloves! dealing with printer ink is messy! Carefully remove the sponges and wash them out. Allow to dry fully before putting back into the printer.

Hope this helps!

Waste ink absorber full

Open your printer.

To protect hands from Ink wear thin latex (or similar) gloves
.

Locate the Waste Ink Pads on the inside of your printer
. They are on the right hand side and are quite small.

You can remove the pads and the holder with a gentle pull
.

Using a tissue, soak up as much ink as possible and clean the area around the waste ink area
.

There is one more waste holder in the right back bottom of the printer. A kind of sponge. There are few screws and plastic parts to be removed and this sponge needs to be washed, dried and placed again. Be careful and patient. This is no understatement. Take a photograph (even with your cell phone) so you can trace back your steps. You also need to take care as you lift the slide/carriage. Below this you find 5 little springs.

Carefully replace the holder and the pads
. Close printer.

Whilst printer is disconnected from the mains power, press and hold the power button and reconnect to ac power
.

Release the power button
.

Press the power button again
.

"ink absorber is almost full, contact service center" - what does this mean?

Inkjet printer has waste ink absorber inside, sponge alike. The function of waste ink absorber is to localize and keep waste ink safe inside the printer and does not harm the electrical parts.
Waste ink is produced from print head cleaning process and borderless printing. When capacity of the ink absorber raise to about 90% then warning message appears.
You need to bring your printer to the nearest service center to get waste ink absorber replaced.

Spillbläck full? What to do

It means that the pad that absorbs the ink when the heads are cleaned is full and if you use it more it will spill the ink over your desk. The official way to deal with that is to take the printer to a dealer and they will clean the absorbing pad and reset the warning.
You can do both yourself:
1 - to clean the ink pad: remove the cartridges and unplug the combo - the carousel should remain in the middle, leaving the pad in the right side visible; take the printer to your sink and pour water over it thru a pipe (try not to splash it everywhere) until the pad becomes white and the water that flows out colourless; allow it to dry thoroughly (at least 2 days in a hot environment).
2 - Reset the Waste Ink Volume Counter
1) Press Menu + Copy + # to enter SERVICE MODE.
2) Select TEST MODE.
3) Select 8 - PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.
4) Select 3 - EEPROM CLEAR.
5) Select 0 - INK COUNT.
6) Press the OK key.
7) Press the Stop/Reset key (returning to the state of 3) and then press the ON/OFF key.

Cannot print

the waste ink container is full. The printer has a small container internally which has a piece of sponge in it. When the printer goes through a cleaning cycle, the ink used to clean the print heads is discarded into here. When the sponge gets saturated, the printer stops.. Most can be removed through a hatch on the base of the printer and can then be cleaned with warm water but be warned, the sponge will drip everywhere !! Dry the sponge and refit, then turn the printer back on..

Waste full

The waste ink absorber is a piece of sponge that (as its name implies) absorbs waste ink. On many Canon printers it an be removed if you are fairly dextrous. Wash it out and dry it and then refit. It may well be a fiddle but it will go back in.
The difficult bit is resetting the printer so that it knows the absorber is empty.
Do a google on resetting the waste ink warning for your particular printer (it's not the same for every Canon). It's done with various combinations of button pressing and light sequences and generally works first time (though one of mine took 4 or 5 goes before it actually reset).
