Re: printer not used for long time. no manual available
It sounds like your Automatic Sheet Feeder (ASF) has a problem, I suspect either due to something broken, or not re-assembled properly (assuming your printer has been dis-assembled previously). If you do not feel up to dis-assembling the printer (the service manual is available very cheaply) to have a look, sell it on e-bay for what you can get!

Uninstall the printer, delete drivers, look if new drivers are available for it and reintall the printer. If problem continues my guess is that your printer is defective. Printers are made of chep plastic materials and after some use parts get worn out and break down. HP has a so called repair kit available for repair service. If your printer won't pick papaer, quite probably some of these partss is damaged. If you don't know how to repair printers aand dont have access to parts, take it to a repair service.
This model has a fairly common problem with the paper feed. If it appears that it tries to pick up paper but fails, then most likely there is a broken part. Parts are not available for HP ink printers.. it's probably time for a new printer.
Brand New T652n lexmark printer get a paper jam every time! just opened and haven't been able to print one paper. Doesn't matter if you print from tray one or tray two. It gets stuck right after the rollers pick it up and try to send it to the toner. Any suggestions? I've tried to reseat the toner, plain paper, sized the paper correctly, I've tried just about everything I can think of! I can feed paper manually through the top tray, and it will print. But, just using the manual tray defeats the purpose of the other two trays. Anyone else having this issue?
Most new printers and copiers will attempt to feed paper several times before failing and giving a jam condition. It sounds like that is what is happening to your printer.
Your tray rollers may be dirty. Remove the tray and use a clean cloth with mild detergent to clean the rubber rollers. Do not use alcohol this will dry the rollers out. If problem continues replace the tray rollers.
First check if the feed rollers are 'Slick" with paper dust, if they are ,clean then with 409 on a cloth rag, and scrub till u dont see the white paper dust on the rollers, let the rollers dry, then reset the printer, by turning it off. then turn it back on ,reinstall the paper and begin printing again.
