Visioneer One Touch 8700 USB Scanner lock mechanism problems

Hello....I am unable to get my Visioneer OneTouch 8700 USB Scanner to work properly...it is a recent gift and brand new...I keep getting a "lock error" message indicating the scanner is locked underneath when my scanner is NOT locked,,,,I downloaded the latest driver from the Visioneer website...i am running Windows XP, Service Pack 3...I even popped the glass lid and physically moved the scan bar several times back and forth across the length of the scanner to make sure it wasn't "locked" or just "stuck"---it does move freely...upon replacing the glass lid and reconnecting the scanner to my computer i get the same "lock error" message problem,,,can u please help advise what I can do to resolve the matter,,,,it seems this is a common problem with Visioneer low end scanners,,,,after contacting Visioneer Knowledge Portal, I have checked everything that Visioneer advised in response (i.e., correct power supply connection, uodated driver, minimum RAM)....is this device simply unfixable?.....if so, why would Visioneer market such a deceptive, cheap product?....any advice you can give would be appreciated,,,I am at: pintobuck@yahoo.com

I thank you in advance.

Not sure if your problem is the same as mine, but I encountered the same error and only to find that I plugged in a wrong power adapter so it didn't have enough power to advance the scanner head (My moving caused this mixup). Check your power adapter OUTPUT is 12V (or whatever is specified on the scanner itself, usually found on the label on the bottom or rear).

Need a driver for Visioneer OneTouch 8700 Flatbed Scanner

The drivers for supported OS versions are available here: http://support.visioneer.com/products/8700/downloads.asp . The supported OS versions are: Windows XP SP 1 / 2000 Professional / Me / 98SE and the additional software that was bundled on the CD is not included.

If you have a different Microsoft OS, you can check the Microsoft compatibility center for either Vidat or Win7. A check of the Win7 compatibility Center http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx showed some Visioneer OneTouch scanners work with Win7. However, the 8700F is not in the list.

I hope this helps.

(Dual boot with XP or a virtual computer with an older valid OS version will work. The Win7 Pro and Ultimate let you use Virtual PC and XP mode to run an XP virtual computer for free.)

I had a new install of windows xp (with service pack 3)on my computer and am now trying to install my visioneer one touch 8700 scanner. Is there a problem with the driver and the xp service pack 2? How can...

You will have to uninstall the device. Delete any files it created on the drive as part of the install. (Not things you'[ve scanned, just program files) then disconnect the scanner. Reattach the scanner in a different USB port (different SCSI id if your using SCSI) and let Windows re-detect the scanner.

This time don't run the setup from the driver CD. Instead let Windows find the scanner and try and set it up on it's own, if it prompts you for a driver, point it to the INF file in the installer directory. If it doesn't, let it use the one it chooses.

After installing in this way you should be able to use the scanner as a TWAIN source from any application.

Need drivers for windows xp pro 64

The XP driver is available at:
http://support.visioneer.com/products/8700/downloads.asp

There is no indication of 64-bit or 32-bit support. However, the driver is not guaranteed to work with XP SP2 (only tested with SP1). This suggests that SP3 is also not tested.

I wish that I could be of more help.

Visioneer OneTouch 7100 USB color images are greenish. I have a Visioneer One Touch 7100 USB scanner and am using the (? slightly illegible logo) yHi 12V 1.25A power adaptor that came with it. Color scans are greenish. The files of the "Color Profiles associated with this device" are through the Color Management tab of Properties are C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\spool\drivers\color\is330.icm (1,252 bytes), C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\spool\drivers\kodak_de.icm (1,271 bytes), and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\spool\drivers\Hewlett-Packard sRGB Color Space Profile.icm (1,351 bytes). is330.icm Is from Ricoh. Hewlett-Packard sRGB Color Space Profile.icm is from Hewlett-Packard. kodak_de.icm Is presumably from Kodak. I'm not sure which one of these Color Profiles the device is actually using. There are also C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dllcache\srgb.icm (984 bytes), C:\System Volume Information\_restore{2C9EF1D8-27DD-48EA-9D91-49D3A0275645}\RP906\A0085043.icm (1,465 bytes), and C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\RSWOP.ICM (1,119 bytes). I can't figure out any way Visioneer has of adjusting colors. The light of the scanner bulb seems to be normal white, not showing any greenish cast. Three samples from what should be white or near-white background (using Paint) give Hue 47 Red 177 Saturation 144 Green 211 Luminescence 112 Blue 28 Hue 47 Red 191 Saturation 187 Green 229 Luminescence 129 Blue 46 Hue 46 Red 180 Saturation 191 Green 210 Luminescence 110 Blue 24, all in all a generally ochre tint. The machine is a decade-old HP Pavilion under MS Windows XP. Thanks, anyone, for any help you can give. Regards, hneftafl
