Iron with auto shut off will not restart, why?

The thermostat is the problem, I used aew3656's solution posted elsewhere, and took care of the same problem on my steamer, just take out the damaged thermostat and use it as a sample to get a new one from any electronics supply store, BTW dont forget to buy thermal grease, it helps dissipate the heat so your steamer won't overheat, and the thermostat wont't go off every 2mins.

Rowenta iron will heat up and then shut down. Have to keep plugging and unplugging the iron.

Irons use a potentiometer and thermister to control the heat on the element. One of these components is bad and needs replacing. If the iron's still under warranty, get another one. The cost of service would probably be as much as a new iron, but you could call an appliance repair shop to check.

I'm having a problem with the auto shut off of my sunbeam 421A series iron. The iron works great until the auto shut off comes on and the red light starts blinking. I understand that the iron should...

Unless you have a 5 or 6 hundred dollar iron, or unless it is brand new, and still under warranty, there is an excellent rule of thumb when an iron quits working: Buy a new one! These days, irons can be purchased cheaply enough that it is WELL worth the money. Not just for the convenience, but for the safety issues. This is an appliance that could burn your house down even if it's in PROPER working order. Hope this helps!!

Iron No Longer Heats Up

Recommended solution, gently shake, did not work.

Considering the iron was at a minimum two years old, I decided to purchase another Rowenta. I found the recommended solution documented on a FAQ sheet enclosed with the new iron.

I actually own another Rowenta iron (I now have three) that has the same issue. I will send one iron, the one manufactured in Germany, to a Rowenta Service Center to see if can be repaired - it was the first Rowenta iron I purchased and it provided several good years of service.

Not heating

The thermal cutoff device blew and must be replaced. It acts like a fuse when the iron gets too hot. Thay are very
cheap and it would be well worth replacing. Hope this was helpful.

Hi! Ensure that the unit is tightly plugged into a working outlet.
Some units are equipped with our patented Motion Smart Auto Off technology. Moving the iron will cause it to begin to reheat.

Auto shut off

either the element is faulty or the switch you turned to give the diffrent tempreture has solder, if it is lose then your iron can repair if it is the element then you have to buy a new iron.good luck.
