Question about Hitachi 43FDX01B TV

1 Answer

Sound on my Hitachi 42" Rear Projection TV is compromised

The sound has to be turned up to almost full volume to get a reasonable hearing audio on the television. Is there a self repair solution for this or do I need to have it serviced? If I can repair it what would I need to do?

The cable box volume doesn't make a difference.

Some sounds are incredibly loud, but voice is low and hard to understand unless volume id turned up high. I've tried all the different configuration of audio and surround sound through the on screen menu, no real difference.

I have a 42 inch Hitachi plasma tv that is making a very loud static noice coming from the internal speakers. It stays at a contstant very loud volume unless I completly mute the tv or turn the volum

Based on what you have tried if a buzz or loud static via the speakers you have something wrong in the audio output circuit of the set--problem here is that circuit may be part of the Main board that processes all signal---a look inside---following the speaker leads back would lead you to that board.

A simple thing to do to narrow it a little (you may have done this) is with sound all the way off put your ear to the internal speaker--hear anything at all like a deep hum?

Depending on age of set and cost of the board likely bad it may or may not be a do it yourself repair.

Hi I have a 51F500 TV as listed above. Yesterday, suddenly the sound stopped working. We have checked all possible reasons mute, speakers, power and DVR. We have nothing else attached. What could this be?...

Let's start here:

0) Unplug your tv and let is sit for a few minutes. Does the sound come back after turning back on?

1) Turn the tv volume all the way up - do you hear any sound whatsoever from the speakers?

2) Verify you do not have sound on any of the inputs on the back of the tv. Use a DVD, Xbox or other that you know is working properly with audio to verify this.

If the above answer are all "no" then likely the audio amplifier has failed, or a capacitor in the area has failed. It is not hard to fix, but if you don't have proper tools, I would call a repair shop and ask what they would charge to fix an audio failure.

Prices will vary all over the map so best to just call a shop and see what they say.

Connect to dvd player

On the back panel of your tv you will see two audio inputs labeled AUDIO TO HI-FI. Plug your surround sound audio jacks, ( red and white ) into that. Plug your video jack ( yellow ) into what ever number input you are going to use for dvd, if needed. This will allow you to watch tv and hear it in your surround sound. You should also go to menu- then- audio option and turn off your tv internal speakers, this will allow your tv remote to control your volume of surround sound. Hope this helped.

Its possibly a defective vertical output IC as that can cause the picture tubes to blank out and volume will audio will remain.

Audio fade

if there is no problem with the surround sound, you have a problem with the volume regulation circuit or with the main amp of this TV set, But to say the least is you have a backup to fix your problem, with the sound system, you said it works fine. this could run ya about 250 to 400 to repair. Good luck.
