Sound on my Hitachi 42" Rear Projection TV is compromised
The sound has to be turned up to almost full volume to get a reasonable hearing audio on the television. Is there a self repair solution for this or do I need to have it serviced? If I can repair it what would I need to do?

if you have a pair of phono connections (red and white) on the rear marked audio out, connect them to the aux in on the surround system and select the aux output on the surround to get the sound from the tv. failing that connect to scart 2 as this should give audio out via the scart cable and select tv on the suround to get sound.
The sound that you hear is coming from the sound detector not working or not receiving any audio. If the set is set to a second audio (SAP) program this could be you trouble. Some programs are broadcast this way. (such as Spanish for Spanish speaking people. Check you audio program settings.
