Question about Vtech Kidizoom Digital Camera
As of this morning all of the buttons stopped working with the exception of the power button..it goes on but i cannot get to the menu or flip through pics or even take a picture b/c no buttons are working i've tried to reset it, i've taken the batteries out and replaced them with new ones..i even took the batteries out and let it sit for awhile w/o them....but it's still not working..when i plug it into the computer like im taking pictures off of it, when i remove the usb cord from it it goes to the menu screen but i can't navigate it and can't get out of it , i have to turn it off then the camera goes on but its in camera mode but we can't take pictures...what happened it was working fine yesterday and hasn't fallen or anything like that..whats the deal?
We had the same issue. After turning on, nothing on the view screen and the buttons didn't work. The camera could turn on, the turn on screen and sound happened and we cold turn off (show off screen and sound)...even after changing batteries. It was like that for a week.
I found it had to do with TV connector slot. Thinking back, my daughter had been playing with the TV connector right before it stopped working. I took a small hair pin and put it in the TV connector slot, lightly wiggled it and the camera sprung back to life. I'm guessing the camera hardware was acting like it was still plugged in...hence turning off the view screen.
Anyways, hope that helps someone.

SOURCE: y is it not working
The camera "thinks" it's connected to a TV. We had the same problem. My wife used a bobby pin to "trick" the camera into thinking it was being disconnected from the TV by probing the pin into and out of the TV connector on the side.

I am not a tech wiz but have just managed to put the card in my daughters camera! Normal SD card tight fit,it looks like it needs to go all the way in but doesnt. Either you have it in wrong or wrong card? Metal bits down! When I turned it on you then have to go to the tools sign to switch to memory card .Hope this helps.

I had similar problem. In windows i formatted the SD card as 'FAT' rather then 'FAT32' (right click on card and select format) and that made the camera recognise it!

SOURCE: changed battery won't turn on
Try inserting a tooth pick into the reset hole found just below on-off button and slightly to the left. Apparently the camera requires a reset after batteries have been changed. Our problem after resolving this problem is now the camera doesn't always stay on, i.e., turns off by itself.
