Replace the colour ink. Some printers mix-in a bit of coloured ink, when printing "black", in order to prevent the colour-inks from drying-out.

SOURCE: epson sx200 One of the colour inks is empty and no print in black

Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Printing in black only option will only work if the colored inks are OK. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing.

SOURCE: My printer will not print in black and white, as

Believe or not, a bit of color ink is require to make true black. However, from most application you can go in to the printer preferences and click the Color tab. Check the print in Grayscale and click the Black print only option. My instructs are based on an HP model printer. The preferences can be a little different between brands. But, you should have similar options. Check your printer's manual for more specifics.

Printer only prints in black/white. have put new

It could be the print setting on your computer.
If you're using Windows, with your document open, go to File > Properties/Preferences. In the Print Setup tab, make sure to select "Print using all available ink" in the Ink Use section.
On Mac you can select Color in Print Setting in any expanded print dialog.

I dont have any coloured ink cartidges left and need to immediately print some forms in full black will be okay but i cannot change my colours to black as the ink holder stays on the far right of my epson...

To print in all black, you can change a setting through the computer to tell the printer to only use the black ink. This is better than putting black ink where the color ink normally would go as that would cause the shading to be wrong and potentially ruin the documents.
If you have enough black ink in the printer, before you finalize the printing process make sure you have black and white only selected.
This will allow you to print without getting access to the ink cartridge holders.
Good luck hope this helps.

I want to print in white ink on black paper. I have a Canon MX310 printer

Inkjet printer inks are dye-based, and that's the reason.

Perhaps this will help explain things. You know those little boxes of food colouring you can buy in the supermarket - the ones that have four little bottles of colour - red, blue, yellow and green. Within reason you can combine these to turn white icing into most colours. Use nothing and the icing is still white or use everything and the icing will go a black-brown colour. Use a couple of drops of red and blue and you'll get purple.

But if you start with black icing, there's nothing you can add that will make it anything but black.

It's the same with your inkjet printer - because white is obtained by not having any ink print on the white paper. But of course that only works when the paper is white. Naturally you'll get different results on all colours of paper, decreasing as the paper gets darker in colour. Print blue on yellow paper and you should get green printing.

The only way to print in white is to do what commercial printers do - use opaque inks and include a white ink in the process. And as far as I know there's no commercial ink that will do that with an inkjet printer.

I can hear lots of you muttering "Rubbish. Of course you can print light colours on dark paper." Well all I can say is, have fun experimenting, but you won't be able to do it.

About the only way to achieve the sort of result you may be after is to print the job then trim it and paste it in place. For instance, if you want to print onto a black or dark-coloured T-shirt then print onto white transfer material, trim the print to size and iron it in place.

My Epson Stylus NX400 wont print because I'm out of colored ink. I just want to print in black and white and I cannot bypass the error screen.

This because the coloured ink is sometimes mixed to get black. You will also damage the print head on them. Replace coloured ink to fix.

Epson sx200 printer, wont print black ink only

Many printers especially Photo ones also use colour even when printing Black. so you do need to replace the spent colour cartridge.

If you only need to print in black get a B&W printer not a colour one.

HP C4500 ink consumption

Dear Sir,

Now a days all HP ink catridges available at low price that means ink quantity is also low.So if you print heavy coloured pages it will deffinately consumes more ink.So print in gray scale or black and white consumes low ink. Compare to gray scale, black and white printing consumes very low ink. So print in black and white is the better choice.

good luck
