Hi yesterday i changed th brushes

yesterday i changed th brushes on a friends washing machine-- tested without a load in and all was fine-
today he says it is trippint the trip switch and now it is not moving ata all- the machine is 10 years old but in good condition- i have in the last 2 yeqars changed the spider assembly- water pump heater belt and all was ok i am thinking it is the armature on its way out- should i put the old brushes back for now till i can get recon motor??
