Question about Wacom Graphire Graphic Tablet

"Oversensitive" digital pen

My digital pen selects (and does not release selection) on close contact with the tablet.  Usually when using the digital pen, the arrow that appears on the monitor selects folders or icons when the pen taps on the tablet or double clicking the select button on the pen.  However, there seems to an oversensitivity with the pen.  The light on the tablet turns green with the pen coming close but without actual contact.  The tablet is working fine with other digital pens.
Thank you for any suggestions. I'm having the same issue. Sometimes the pen is fine, other times it acts like I'm holding down the pen when it's not touching the tablet. It keeps doing this while I'm working in Photoshop and it's driving me nuts!

I'd love to know if there's a way to fix this or if the pen is faulty and needs replacing (I'd hate to replace it only to find it was the tablet or some aspect of the installation at fault).

    Using an Intuos 3. It sometimes acts way oversensitive as if its built up a magnetic charge and does not want to release when I lift the pen. I know others have had the same problem, but can't seem to find any answers from either wacom site or internet in general. It seems sporadic which makes me think its a hardware issue and not software. Also the setting preferences do not solve this.

Replace the pen the transmitter in the pin has malfunctioned usally caused by the spring loosing its strength

My tablet pen highlights everything on the page


I was given these solutions by Wacom, but still get the same problem or otherwise barely any response at all from the pen:

Regarding the information you provided, we would like to tell that if your Mac OS X's version is between 10.5 to 10.7.4, please proceed to step 1 to troubleshoot the problem. If your Mac OS X's version is 10.8, please upgrade the Mac to 10.8.1 then follow the steps below to start troubleshooting the problem.

1. Reset the tablet driver.

Click on Go > click on Applications > search and open the Bamboo folder > select Bamboo Utility > select All Users under Preferences > click on Remove button under Preferences.

If the problem remains, go to the next step. If it is fixed, do not proceed with the rest of the troubleshooting steps.

2. Set the driver to Pen Mode.

Click on the Apple logo > select System Preference > click Bamboo icon > click Pen tab > on Tracking pane, select Pen Mode > close the Bamboo Preferences.

3. Adjust the Double Click Distance and Tip Feel.

Click on Start > click on All Programs > search and open the Bamboo folder > select Bamboo Preferences > click on the Pen tab > adjust the Double Click Distance to Big and the Tip Feel to Firm > close the Bamboo Preferences.

My Graphics Tablet Pen Keeps Clicking When I Hover It Over The Tablet Without Touching It, How Can I Fix It?


This sovled my issue using a Mac...
1. Download the latest driver from Wacom http://www.wacom.com/en/CustomerCare/Drivers.aspx
If you already have the pen tablet uninstaller utility, run it. In my case there was a Bamboo Fun folder with a Bamboo Utility inside the applications folder. If you cannot locate it, you need to run the installation of the new driver. Then go to said folder, open the utility, select All User and Remover preferences. THEN select "Remove pen tablet". You will essentially remove the driver you just installed.
Then RESTART your computer, and proceed to re-install the same driver. Issue should be solved.
If not, contact Wacom customer support. 800-922-6613
That fixed it for me. Hope it makes sense.

I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet for like a year. It stopped working after I didn't use it for a while. When plugged in, the lights are on and the function buttons work well, but the working area...


Disconnect the tablet from the PC
Presuming you have a WIndows Operating System
Go to Start, Control Panel, System, Select the "Hardware" tab then "Device Manager"
Locate the Wacom tablet on the list and highlight it by left clicking once. You can now delete the device by the "X" at the top or by hitting the DELETE key.. confirm delte and close the hardware box.
At the Control Panel Box select ADD/ REMOVE programsScan the list for any Wacom tablet software that may be installed and remove it by again left click once to highlight then select REMOVE
Close Control panel and reboot your machine.

Install latest drivers from Wacom and then plug the device in allowing the machine to find and reinstall the Tablet

When I'm using Photoshop CS4 with my Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet, the screen tracking for the tablet only works for half the tablet. This happens with everything else as well, not just Photoshop...


Go to Control Panel, and open bamboo properties. There you select the "pen" tab. In the pen tab you will see tracking. Select pen mode and details. You can map the pad there. After mapping pen mode try it in mouse mode as well. Best of luck!

Wacom intuos3 pen is not working


A few hours ago Wacom released a new driver 6.1.2-5 for the Windows 7/Vista/XP operating systems. I was having the same problem. Hopefully this will be a permanent fix!

How do you put the pen in "Mouse mode" on a Genius?


Please follow those steps:
  • Select "Preferences" under the "Options" menu .
  • Under the Digitizer Input section select for input "Digitizer only" and click OK
  • Now configure the menu and screen area and save configuration
  • Select "Preferences" under the "Options" menu and set in the digitizer input section input back to "Digitizer/Mouse"

Pen sticking


In settings, turn Tip Feel all the way to maximum Firm.

Intuous pen "sticking"


Take out the "nib" and whack it on your desk (or drop it on the floor from 3 feet up). It re-seats the "nib" sensor when it's stuck. If this doesn't work, then the sensor may be too damaged.

Classic Pen Woes


Hi , Mnemosyne , i'm the Guest who had the exact same of your problem , i contacted WACOM and there solution was as follow : " This problem is, although uncommon, usually easily fixable. The first and fastest solution is to simply press the eraser a few times to release it from binding on the side of the pen. If that does not work, pull the white plastic nib, and take a fingernail file (LIGHTLY) to the back end of the nib, making sure to remove any burs or flaring from the nib. I have seen this problem myself, albeit uncommon " , they also suggested if all fails then change the nib ( and thats exactly what i did , i changed the plastic nib with the felt nib - i like it better anyways thats why i didn't bother filing the plastic nib - and WALA my problem was solved and the pen is working like a charm , hope this helps .
