I had the same problem, i shut the camera off, hit the cassette door a few times (not kidding) and when i turned it on it was fixed. the zoom bar will not show on the camera screen, but it won't keep zooming in by itself!! i had gotten this advice from people who had a similiar problem with the elura 60's models, must be a problem across the board.

Canon fs100 zooms in by its self while i am videoing.i have to hold zoom toggle to zoom out position to stop it zooming in by its self

This is most likely a defective zoom rocker switch assembly. This will require major disassembly to repair and can usually be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

HF10 zoom goes without any explicit request

My HF10 started to mysteriously autozoom as well, and I had made no setup changes. I don't have exactly the same symptoms as you describe except that it would begin to zoom when I didn't want it to. I noticed the [I.AF] (Instant AutoFocus) icon, so I went into the menu (Camera Setup - AF Mode) and turned the "Instant AF" to "Normal AF". After that, the autozoom seemed to have stopped. I set it back to "Instant AF" and it did not autozoom again. I wouldn't know how to turn the autozoom back on again even if I wanted to, but thankfully it appears to be gone now. Hopefully it will stay in manual zoom mode. Hope that helps.

I have to keep rebooting my zoom as it stops

by rebooting if you mean that turn off and turn on, then try resetting ur router from the reset button on the back

but before you do that, remember that its going to change all the settings and bring it bak the original factory settings

so after reset if you dnt know how to go bout and do the settings for router, your ISP mite help you, or get here, i will help you.

Zoom feature not working

Hi,

So you're pressing the Zoom button but it has no effect, am i correct?

There can be 2 issues - small (dust/moisture), not small(inside button gone bad).

Small Issue: Keep the camera in sunlight(not very hot) for a while. (not loaded). Wipe off with clean lint-free cotton cloth. Keep it again in sunlight for a while. If moisture is the issue then it should go off, though i have seen in some cases it took 3-4 days and suddenly it started working.

If still no response from Zoom then the internal zoom small button has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Send it for repairs.

JVC GR-DX97 Zoom Control Button on top

You have a bad zoom unit/zoom controller. It is common on these units.

Zooming in.

Your camera jumped out of gear. Open the front metal cover and disassemble all arm working with the main motor gear and try to reposition the red dot on the big gear with the small gear side by side. Presto now your camera is aligned. Place all arms back in order to your new alignment.you got your self a working camera. D: 3403 3404 mean error = some thing is block your lense and stopping the motored gear. For future referance don't drop the camera agian, next time it might be a expensive fix next time around.
