Hit the door when the camera is turned off, you might have to whack it a few times but it works, the problem is there is a short in the wiring in the door, will cost about 250 bucks to fix or you can "love" tap the door a few times and save your money.

SOURCE: i need help!

i had the same problem, i shut the camera off, hit the cassette door a few times (not kidding) and when i turned it on it was fixed. the zoom bar will not show on the camera screen, but it won't keep zooming in by itself!! i had gotten this advice from people who had a similiar problem with the elura 60's models, must be a problem across the board.

Usually, it’s a faulty zoom switch inside the camera's lens grip.

Now keep calm, dear, getting irate won't help. The answer to your query is bound to be in the camera manual. You can download a manual for almost any equipment by Googling the make and model followed by the word Manual, then follow the appropriate link(s).

Canon fs100 zooms in by its self while i am videoing.i have to hold zoom toggle to zoom out position to stop it zooming in by its self

This is most likely a defective zoom rocker switch assembly. This will require major disassembly to repair and can usually be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

HF10 zoom goes without any explicit request

My HF10 started to mysteriously autozoom as well, and I had made no setup changes. I don't have exactly the same symptoms as you describe except that it would begin to zoom when I didn't want it to. I noticed the [I.AF] (Instant AutoFocus) icon, so I went into the menu (Camera Setup - AF Mode) and turned the "Instant AF" to "Normal AF". After that, the autozoom seemed to have stopped. I set it back to "Instant AF" and it did not autozoom again. I wouldn't know how to turn the autozoom back on again even if I wanted to, but thankfully it appears to be gone now. Hopefully it will stay in manual zoom mode. Hope that helps.
